@NeilThin This is a strawman. People are not against social justice or progress. We had that before DEI/EDI. There is a particular philosophy of identitiy politics and reverse discrimination arising from CRT which is pernicious in its impact on institutions which is at issue.

@LeoKearse Those within the system who raised the alarm were intimidated and shut down, as were journalists. If you shut down all "legitimate" sources of raising issues, what do you expect will happen?

@PhilipHensher The fundamental flaw is reducing people to labels as per their identity. Even if people are discriminated as a group, the answer cannot be reverse discrimination as a group. This is actually the lazy answer, designed to make the doer feel good rather than solve the problem.

@lancekthompson The whole CRT is based on the assumption that truth is subjective - there isn't one truth, there is only my truth or your truth.

If we leave the noise aside, this is the core philosophical difference between the two sides of this debate - so we should not be surprised at all.

The question before us is whether the act of investigation itself is tantamount to harassment.

Academicians claim to hold authority on a subject - a claim based on integrity and knowledge. So of course when these are questioned it's news.
