I should not be saying this but I am not okay right now.
I watched Breel Embolo get that red card.
And I felt something break inside me.
Not crack.
Break.
Because I know what I saw.
I saw Messi feel the contact coming.
I saw him decide.
Before he hit the floor.
I saw him clutch the wrong place.
The place that was not touched.
I saw him get up too fast for someone who was genuinely hurt.
And I watched the referee point at Breel Embolo.
And I screamed at my screen.
Like a man who has lost something he cannot get back.
Because Switzerland lost something they cannot get back.
And nobody did anything.
Not VAR.
Not FIFA.
Not Collina with his press conference and his big words about independence.
Nobody.
And I am sitting here.
Genuinely broken.
Asking the same question Breel Embolo is probably asking right now.
In a changing room.
With his boots still on.
What did I do wrong.
