“A few people are getting fabulously, unimaginably wealthy at the same time that entire generations of families worry they will never be able to afford to buy a house, raise children or enjoy a comfortable retirement” https://t.co/E7GGF8McWc
@KerrPoints love listening to you and Ed on your podcast. Any chance @BiltRewards would consider adding Amtrak Guest Rewards as a transfer partner? The points value is fixed at a high rate (2.5 cents per my last look) so very valuable points. No transfer partners go to Amtrak once they left Chase unfortunately. Fun way to travel cross country and for NE travel. Thx!
@united Last week, upon boarding my flight from Denver to SFO (6/25, UA2681), I was delighted to see this note at my seat. So thoughtful. Bobby is a real gem. If you could let his superiors know, that would be awesome! Thanks for the great flight.
@united Captain Paul Joyce this morning 1/14 on UA1362 to Denver was a class act. Fun and engaging over the PA and came and addressed the first class cabin in person before departure. Please give him/his superiors notice of his great customer service!
@DDrolapas@ErikKaiser What about buildings constructed before 1979 that where then converted to condos? Do the rent restrictions still apply to those units?
After enduring unimaginable suffering and uncertainty, the Americans detained in Russia are safe, free, and have begun their journeys back into the arms of their families.
There are "signs of a major prisoner exchange between Russia and Belarus on one side and the U.S., Germany, Slovenia and Britain on the other..." it may be the "biggest swap since the Cold War..." awaiting official word about Evan Gershkovich and others https://t.co/3h8W4TurUu
@JaredWalczak Don't forget the Northeast Alliance JetBlue had with AA. Another example of something that was killed in the name of antitrust. But now AA + JetBlue can't effectively compete with DL and UA, and JetBlue is shrinking. How does that help competition?
Polis is 100% correct here. I'd also remind him that the Northeast Alliance that JetBlue had with AA was also struck down. This too would have enabled American and JetBlue to compete better with Delta and United in NYC. Now JetBlue is shrinking — how is that good for competition?
At the 30,000 foot level, pardon the pun, I can’t make sense of this. At a combined 8.7% of the market how could this be an anti-trust issue? If anything it would allow the combined low fare entity to compete more effectively with the bigs ✈️
Trump agreeing to debate Biden before the Democratic convention and selecting JD Vance as his running mate will likely go down as two of the most consequential unforced errors in modern political history.
To build more housing, we absolutely need to reform zoning + permitting/entitlement process. BUT ...
That's not why new multifamily construction starts are plunging toward 10+ year lows.
The big reason? The math no longer works.
Flat rents + pricey debt = few starts.
The typical new home in the U.S. is shrinking., per CNBC.
The size of homes newly under construction in 2023 dropped to an average of 2,411 square feet, or a median of 2,179 square feet, the smallest size in 13 years, according to the National Association of Home Builders.
The top companies in the index have continued to drive revenue growth even admist restrictive monetary policy. Speaks to the concentration of market power in just a handful of companies. The invested segment of the public has done quite well over the past several years. Others fall further and further behind and face inflation without a growing equity cushion. And an inability to buy a house. No judgement. Just fact.
