Not to be a total commie about it, but there is an element of class resentment in the public reaction to the Cornell case that I haven't seen many people comment on.

Basically, the darkest parts of the manosphere are driven by a toxic mix of misogyny and class resentment because they know they will be rejected by wealthy, successful, ambitious women they feel entitled to. This is what the "email jobs" meme is from, and I think it's driving a lot of the most visceral slurs levelled against Jane Doe.

On the other hand, a wealthy, spoiled, reckless frat boy who gets drunk and high every weekend is what the manosphere wants to be. If you watch any of their streams (I do not recommend this for anything other than sociological purposes), you'll see that this sort of frat- or club-like atmosphere is what they aspire to.

There's a very palpable sense that they're identifying with a bunch of grossly hedonistic frat boys that do illegal drugs, and directing both class- and gender-based resentment at Jane Doe.
