I am deeply saddened and profoundly disturbed by the deaths of dozens of Nigerians while in NSCDC custody in Niger State.
These were human beings—sons, fathers, brothers and loved ones, whose families had every right to expect that, whatever allegations they faced, the state would protect their lives and dignity while they remained in its custody.
No Nigerian should enter government custody and lose the most basic right of all: the right to life.
I commend the Federal Government for the swift decision to suspend the officers under whose watch this tragedy occurred and to order a full investigation. That is an important first step, but it must not end there. The investigation must be independent, thorough and transparent, and its findings must be made public. Anyone found responsible through action, abuse or negligence must be held fully accountable.
The families of the deceased deserve more than condolences. They deserve the truth. They deserve justice. And Nigerians deserve the assurance that custody by the state will never become a death sentence.
My heart goes out to the bereaved families. I pray that God grants them strength and comfort in this painful hour, and that the truth is established without delay. -AA
@AishaYesufu Listening to the man gave me a second hope about humanity. He was calm. I wonder how he went through the trials in court. Forgiveness at this magnitude is difficult, but he did it. For the lady, she waited too long to retrace her steps. I pray she truly meant all her utterances.
@vanguardngrnews I don't understand government sponsoring Haji and Jerusalem pilgrimage. It makes no sense in a country where children are out of school. One of the stupid decisions of the elite.
@Harmless12345 I appreciate your question and observation. How do theyncome about Aso ebi. Is it sown by kidnappers....fear God Naija! This damper the authenticity of the saga!
@instablog9ja Fasting and religion is personal. I encourage all Muslim to fast and I pray that God will answer all their prayer in this month. Telling people not to eat in public is a no for me. I can eat anytime I like and where I like. You don't tell people how to live.
@fkeyamo What happen to Air Nigeria you guys launched. You are telling us another tales by the moonlight. We have lost confidence in your government ability to provide good governance to Nigeria. This most painful part is our inability to make you guys accountable for all your actions.
Bolanle Olukanni tells CNN that the Nigerian presidential election was not conducted fairly and INEC is misleading the public. #Obiiscoming

@abbalala3 Imagine the gut to display good bribery. I pity Naija. Instead of policy to help common man fight poverty and insecurity. They are fighting just a day hunger. What happen after 6 months. People with breft of ideas!
