@BritVoxUS I have one particular story back in my WSU soccer days that is so embarrassing and was funny in the moment until it happened two more times…
@360TMart One of the most wild goals/finishes to a match I've seen in high school soccer, and it's made even more impressive in that it caps back to back wins over a pair of definitive tournament favorites in Overlake and Vashon. "Upset of the tournament" x2. Incredible 48 hours for KWC
@kevinschultz15@EvansRankings Having watched a ton of them and the ESC in general, I agree on Kings. Bear Creek is a very good team who is peaking at the right time and I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat them on Friday, that ought to be a fun championship game.
Says a lot about you if you’re this upset about somebody ‘checks notes’ acknowledging the history and contributions of black women. “All she needed to do was remain neutral,” says the self-proclaimed women’s sports activist 🫣
No one was asking for Caitlin Clark to position herself as a right-wing hero. All she needed to do was remain neutral.
She’s a phenom who inspires countless young girls to play & achieve, so I still have great admiration for her, but she missed the mark on this one.
@JFranklin17 Worked with a lot more female athletes/ oaches that would rather talk about pay equity, access to high level programs, media bias, exposure and financially predatory orgs to name a few. “Save women’s sports” crowd won’t lift a finger for women’s sport issues that are decades old
@JFranklin17 No two cases of transgender athletic participation are the same. My larger point though, is that I believe Gaines is super disingenuous. She talks about “saving women’s sports”, but I have never seen her talk about issues female athletes have faced for a really long time.
@JFranklin17 If you think people go through gender transitions just to be better at sports, I’m very sorry you have developed that mindset. But my point here is this fake outrage from prominent voices. We jump all over these stories in the relatively rare case a trans athlete is successful.
@JFranklin17 this is a widespread epidemic, when the reality is that it is a complicated, case by case issue that is in fact, not that common. These stories blow up because of a sensationalism from right wing voices who don’t lift a finger to fight other real pressing issues in women’s sport.
