With obesity on the rise in the US and other countries. I hope a solution can be found to this insulin production issue. Although my history of medicine class reminds me that prevention is also important. @OxyEvo https://t.co/D1Ky17NTeX
Really interesting article about where camels might have originated. Having read Gould and Lewontin, I have an issue with them trying to explain how the camel's traits were helpful adaptations in the artic. @OxyEvo https://t.co/GhTeEiCzrM
Cool mini-article about how speciation events can occur without geographic barriers. The 'barrier' between these fish seems to be their housing choices. @OxyEvo https://t.co/JnMLA2Keoj
Just found out one of the newer iPhone updates has new emojis of extinct species. Phylamoji time. @OxyEvo

Interesting article about neanderthal chests. One big takeaway is HERITABILITY! The less heritable something is the less likely we see the selection carry out in the future. @OxyEvo https://t.co/GKFssgtLSV
An umbrella species in action in Japan. I hope more of this will come as biodiversity is especially important in our oceans. @OxyEvo https://t.co/ontJQqxDTM
This article solidifies those claims about the caterpillars for me. Interesting how it also comments on different species and Hawaii's greater effect on evolution(Reminds me of Gould and Lewontin). @OxyEvo https://t.co/aICRrGjzEa
I saw this awesome video this morning. It mentions that the caterpillars on Hawaii evolved to become more carnivorous. I had to find an article to see if this was real because it is so cool. Article coming in a second tweet due to tweet space. @OxyEvo https://t.co/dbytMOT7rd
When I think of sexual selection, I remember the marine iguanas from my freshman year of high school. Bobbing their heads to assert dominance. @OxyEvo https://t.co/rk6VQEyAui
It snowed today in Eastern Mass. Over the past few years, snow patterns have definitely changed. I wonder if there is an organism here, like our tawny owls, that could have experienced a selection shift due to this change.🤔 @OxyEvo
Learning that both G.H.Hardy and Wilhelm Weinberg figured out similar theories of allele equilibrium in populations is quite interesting. Something like this really sells the idea of convergent evolution. Similar mechanisms can be developed very far apart from one another @OxyEvo
These tiny DNA circles are found in both cancerous and normal cells, but the cancerous ones seemed to have selected towards a mutation that includes more base pairs. Scientists think this can help cancerous cells grow faster

I'm curious to see how this develops. From this article, it seems phosphine is only found around anaerobic life. If there is something similar to that type of life we have here on earth, I want to know if there were homologies to genetic storage, proteins, etc. @OxyEvo
Viruses may not be considered alive by the entire scientific community, but they definitely evolve. It's great that we can use phylogenetic trees to relate them to each other, and hopefully that speeds up the production of an effective vaccine. @OxyEvo
