A lot of us spent a lot of our lives making the #ModelX become what it is and delivering on the promise of the first EV SUV. As I say goodbye to an era, and to something that has a special place in my heart, I hope that it’s remembered for blazing the trail and charting the path.
Great post by @clattner_llvm, analyzing @AnthropicAI’s CCC.
More importantly, Chris explains the things AI is capable of — in context of coding assistants. AI doesn’t replace engineers — it just does the grunt work for them.
The Claude C Compiler is the first AI-generated compiler that builds complex C code, built by @AnthropicAI. Reactions ranged from dismissal as "AI nonsense" to "SW is over": both takes miss the point.
As a compiler🐉 expert and experienced SW leader, I see a lot to learn: 👇
Hey @clattner_llvm, would be great to have you write your thoughts about it.
Why do you think it is (or is not) as capable as it is? Also, do you think AI can ever invent a whole new programming language (having done it more than once yourself)?
This is a pretty incredible result, and says much about state of AI/agent capabilities and also quite a bit about compiler design. 🐉
My next 2 weeks are busy, but would it be useful for me to write something about this? If so, what would be most interesting / not redundant?
@elonmusk@karpathy@pduan The coast-to-coast drive effort started very shortly after we shipped HW2. Super happy to see it exactly 9 years to the day after we shipped Autopilot 2.0 to the first 1000 cars (https://t.co/d1XSq26qkP).
Congrats to the @Tesla Autopilot Team!
@_milankovac_@aelluswamy@Tesla@elonmusk During my time on Model X, and especially my time in Autopilot when we shipped HW2, @elonmusk was always deeply involved — at times on a nearly daily basis.
@Tesla and the entire EV industry wouldn’t be here today without him. (2/2)
@_milankovac_@aelluswamy I couldn’t agree more with @aelluswamy and @_milankovac_. Even though I left @Tesla six years ago, my feelings about it and @elonmusk haven’t changed.
Elon cares about the minutest details, and personally leads the engineers to ensure we deliver the best possible product. (1/2)
@karpathy Hey @karpathy, thanks for the super detailed explanation. I’m all for engineers writing super efficient code. The pervasive use of Python has made that harder. I mentioned something similar in the past. See:
@clattner_llvm@szeloof@ID_AA_Carmack@elonmusk@jimkxa@DanielleFong As we continue to find innovative ways to scale the number of transistors and keep Moore’s Law alive, we also need to continue to find innovative ways to encourage software engineers to write optimized code to fully leverage / saturate the transistor pipelines they get access to.
The industry is talking about the #predictiveanalytics and #AI powered #lossprevention!

@elonmusk@aelluswamy Congrats @elonmusk, @aelluswamy, and the Autopilot Team! Glad to see the e2e approach and super excited to see the FSD progress!! Can’t wait to try it on my car! 🙂

Boost in digital experiences have led retailers to embrace #HPC & AI. @JordanEzrFisher notes in @VentureBeat that, while the self-checkout at the edge provides lower latency and fast response times, we're going to see new tech that, "goes way beyond that."
