Along with so many talented writers, I was unfortunately among the writers laid off at Sports Illustrated today. Over 4 years later and Iβm so proud of the stories and work Iβve done there.
My DMs and email ([email protected]) are open. Looking forward to the next thing.
𧡠Everyoneβs talking about the bathhouse ban in Minneapolis right now β but why did they actually close? Sources say bc increased police surveillance, a fear of AIDS and gentrification. In this deep dive for mpr news I talk to all the key players. https://t.co/laLgtkwizR
The health commissioner did a study in 1977 proving that closing the bathhouses would do nothing. They were a place people learned about safe sex and the sex would continue, just in less safe environments. In 1988 the council passed an ordinance to ban them 11-0.
for the last year and a half iβve been following the bathhouse ban for mpr π in 1988 minneapolis made adult bathhouses illegal. nearly 40 years later, the city may change the ordinance. https://t.co/TA2PxaUa4z
