I wonder what's happening on VNDB today.

"Comment translated by Deepl because English is a filthy language and I will not waste my time."
...
Yep, pretty much a typical day on VNDB.
I wasn't going to talk about Johren/ShiraVune, but I was messing around with their games and legit I don't think I've ever seen, in the history of working on these games, a company attempt to censor the game's own protagonist out of the H-CG. It boggles the mind.
New on Sanahtlig's Corner:
[Review] Subverse: Adult gaming goes mainstream
"Subverse is an ambitious cinematic gameplay erogame that blends visual novel dialogue, SHMUP and grid-combat gameplay, and animated ero."

My fellow Americans,
I sincerely thank all of you who have worked tirelessly to unflatten the curve and now plan to refuse a vaccine. You've done all of us who want to be vaccinated as soon as possible a great service.

I'm having a lot of fun with free-to-play magical girl eroge Magicami DX. Good character animation, interesting turn-based combat, and angsty drama reminiscent of Madoka Magica.

@Unkoman_KR@razisgosu@Best_Lolicon@Magicami_en This argument works for VNs, but less so for browser games. For hosts/publishers, there's only DMM (Johren) and Nutaku. The games themselves have a limited shelf life. Magicami had no one to champion it, so all possibilities converged to the worldline we find ourselves in.
@Unkoman_KR@razisgosu@Best_Lolicon@Magicami_en I'm ambivalent about the argument that not creating objectionable content in the first place (or leaving it in another language) is better than censorship. But that's certainly a common viewpoint.
@Unkoman_KR@razisgosu@Best_Lolicon@Magicami_en What you should realize is that a lot of the English-original games on Nutaku, Patreon, etc. are made-to-guidelines. The censorship is baked into the development process. But it does seem like the guidelines for downloadable titles might be more lax.
@Unkoman_KR@razisgosu@Best_Lolicon@Magicami_en I think Taimanin Asagi Battle Arena was a special situation. The dev (Lilith) refused to let their game be censored and took extraordinary measures on the back-end to circumvent the compliance issues. Lilith deserves the credit there for their commitment to artistic integrity.
@Unkoman_KR@razisgosu@Best_Lolicon@Magicami_en The censorship is a risk mitigation strategy to avoid issues with payment processing. The censorship isn't intended to please users, whereas the trigger warning probably is.
@Unkoman_KR@razisgosu@Best_Lolicon@Magicami_en The funny thing is that before such scenes there's a trigger warning with a star-rating indicating the level of "Assault". They're still non-consensual scenes and they don't do much to hide it.
@razisgosu@Best_Lolicon@Magicami_en These are corruption scenes where the intercourse progresses from clearly non-consensual to consensual. The translation blunts the non-consensual aspects, which does mitigate the emotional impact of the scenes (which are supposed to be horrific).
@razisgosu@Best_Lolicon@Magicami_en I've been playing through the story and the dialog changes in the scenes I've come across aren't as severe as they were in Kamihime Project. The alterations are fairly subtle in context. The translation is also a step above the usual fare.
