Governor Pritzker last week called the SCOTUS ruling on Louisiana redistricting “voter suppression that will silence black and brown voters.” An odd way to characterize the decision, the ruling held that the creation of a second majority-Black congressional district was unconstitutional racial gerrymander.
Pritzker’s criticism is a smokescreen to conceal Illinois most gerrymandered districts in history.
How is it Chicago shares a part of 7-8 of the states 17 Congressional districts despite having fewer than a fourth of the state’s population?
The objective of the Democratic-drawn map isn’t equity. The purpose is to perpetuate one-party rule in which Democrats hold 14 of 17 Congressional seats and the state map gives that Republicans a veto proof state house and senate for the past decade.
Pritzker lied in 2018 when he was first running for governor and promised to create an independent commission to draw political maps vowing to veto any "political," gerrymandered, or partisan map.
@jasonlbritt I have it. One of the worst things is it makes you more allergic to the things you were already allergic to. I can’t go into a pollinating corn field now without a severe reaction.
@bmreadel At some point you will climb out of the cab after fall and it’s the last time you will ever get the chance to be on the same field with someone you love ever again.
@PlsntVlyFarmer Dad had a 8800 white with the 354. I remember when it was supposed to rain they would tap the exhaust flap with a hammer to get it to close from being sooted open after running for a few days.
