@fosterhood Can’t believe how long it’s been. The situation with Clem’s siblings and end of the blog was so after I got my first placement as a single early 20s woman and I remember wondering what I got myself into. Thankfully my locality isn’t quite as bad as NYC…
@fosterhood Not NYC but dealing with this currently re: 2yo with medical issues - normal life expectancy but never expected to live independently. The youngest “yes” was 59+62yo couple. “They can handle it, she’s a nurse!” okay but who will handle it in 15 years?
@fosterhood@Dadssparrow Most kids ditch their boosters way too early, which can lead to devastating stuff if a crash happens…saw it as an EMT 10yrs ago, still see it as an RN. Way to go keeping her safe!
@RNSuperHero Lol what? As nicu nurses we handle (other people’s) breastmilk all the time. Maybe that’s the issue though? In my first NICU all breastmilk storage bags/containers had to be treated/disposed as biohazards. Parents washed pump parts in room sinks where we washed hands though, nbd!
@SSNaushon@SaraTinning @MrsPA_C Um, a whole lot of luck (read:privilege). Even if I don’t WANT to go anywhere without my kids (which I do, dragging my 1&3yos to other 3yo’s 3x weekly medical appts is NOT fun) I have to go to work. My 2009 car, paid off loans, and Disney aversion don’t cure that. It’s 2023.
@fosterhood I spent an extra year attending a church I otherwise didn’t like/planned to leave because they sent 3 empty nester ladies to deep clean my house every other Saturday. Still the most valued support I’ve ever gotten!
@mamamorgann None of the swivel seats can be left sideways while the vehicle is moving, with or without a child in the seat. They are only for loading convenience (but they are a game changer for many families. Makes loading my disabled, extended rear facing preschooler way easier!)
@MrsPA_C @DrCaitlynK I mix my 1yo’s miralax in a small amount of his food. Oatmeal, yogurt, applesauce, whatever. He needed 10g/day to start and then once things were moving, 5g/day has kept everyone happy!
@fosterhood I hope some version of kinship care will happen for you. I’m sorry that you’re back in the middle of all this after basically just getting out with Kid1, but I’m so glad Jacket still has you all these years later
@Q2turnQueen Yes, you can just start! A “standard” formula is a good starting point for most babies, and if needed you can switch to something “gentle” down the road. @/theformulamom and @/theformulafairy on Instagram have been amazing resources for me for everything formula!
@Q2turnQueen @ttcbabyp @RachaelEWoods @laurabellle What car seat do you have? The Nuna Pipa (entire line) is the only infant seat that lets you use both latch and seatbelt. Every other seat has separate instructions for each type of install, but you can’t use them together!
Introverts are good writers because they've been refining their inner dialogue their whole lives and have imaginary conversations with people on a daily basis.
@nicoleeeejg @sleepnator Right?! There are exactly zero times a plane has sat around waiting on a nonrev who wasn’t there once fully boarded and ready to leave
@sleepnator @nicoleeeejg 100% guaranteed that one guy is NOT a non-rev passenger lol. Non-revs are essentially professional travelers. How else could someone make it from drop-off to plane in 7 minutes?
@sleepnator @nicoleeeejg Non-rev passengers are on standby. If they’re not at the gate when the doors close they’re getting left behind. The flight and ground crews won’t bother waiting…quick departures like this are usually wide open flights w/ tons of seats where nobody is waiting for clearance.
