Defending the vote meant countless drives to polling stations, making sure the polling agents were fed without a budget, it was really humbling to see the community contributing to this cause. Thanks @DMwonzora for the practice run. #Dangamvura-Chikanga
My Sister’s Lover - My latest novel 🤎
All year I have been talking about “working on my book.” Well… she’s almost ready. 😁
My Sister’s Lover will be in major bookstores across South Africa from 13 October 2026.
This one is very close to my heart. I set the story in Mambale, the village where I grew up. Writing about a place so familiar was bittersweet.
There was something nostalgic about bringing the places I knew so well into a fictional world, but also liberating about being able to reshape them and let my imagination take me wherever the story needed to go.
I wanted to honour my home, but I also love drama and pushing limits. So I often found myself wondering whether I might offend the very ground that raised me 🫢
I intentionally positioned my main character’s home where my own home stands eMambale. I even placed the shops in the order they actually were at the growth point: General Dealer, Bottle Store, Hardware… Okay, I’m going on and on 🤭. But you see what I mean. Mambale is not just a setting; it’s home.
I poured my heart and soul into this one. I laughed, I stressed, I ghosted my publisher when the story got too intense and I continuously fell in and out of love with the characters and their story.
And now I can finally say: “It will be here in under a month and pre-orders are officially open.” 🥹😍
I hope you enjoy reading My Sister’s Lover as much as I enjoyed writing it.
A million thanks to my wonderful publishers, Kwela Books & Johnathan Ball @jbp_local for making this journey such a beautiful one. Thank you for believing in me and helping me bring this book to life.
And to everyone who has been asking, waiting, encouraging me and cheering me on, I can never thank you enough. You have no idea what that means to me.
So, Dear Reader, I hereby present to you My Sister’s Lover. She’s ready to meet you. 🥹
Pre-orders are open via the link in my bio (https://t.co/1BArhH5yL1). You can order directly from me, Takealot, Amazon or through a bookstore near you in South Africa.
From my heart,
Ndoboka. Ngiyabonga. Thank you. 🤎
🔸Not quite hey. Remember circa 1995? See Exhibit A below. The city of Harare was pristine. People had no reason to be vending because they had jobs to go to. Everyone moved with purpose. There was order. In about 1997, @ZANUPF_Official tanked the economy. The rest is history.
You cannot address the vending crisis without addressing the economic crisis. It’s an exercise in futility. You’ll “clear up” today and they’ll be back tomorrow. It’s a matter of survival. Nobody chooses this indignity but they’re forced into it by poverty.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
I’m reminded that in 1987 when I was 2 years old, my mother went to work as a student nurse and never came back. Days later she was found lying on the road, dead! Leaving a 2 year old me, a six month old boy without a mother! Nothing much has changed since then!

And then, cheat on her with your coworker who chose her career over staying at home. The cruelest joke is demanding a woman sacrifice her ambitions for your family, only to betray her after she gives you exactly what you asked for.
