Mr. Musk, yes, no billionaire should dictate a nation’s policy - Indian or American.
India must welcome competition in satellite internet, from Indian and global providers, whoever offers the most practical and affordable last-mile solution for those in remote regions. In countries with lower per-capita incomes, satellite internet must be affordable too. High subscription fees and equipment costs risk putting it beyond the reach of ordinary households. Connectivity must bridge the digital divide, not create a new one.
India knows our networks and spectrum are strategic infrastructure, not merely commercial assets. India’s national security safeguards are non-negotiable.
Every country makes choices based on its own interests. Those in the West cannot preach free markets while practicing protectionism at home. USA imposed 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs to protect its domestic industry, just as India takes measures to protect its own domestic manufacturers. Both India and the US have restricted Huawei over security concerns. One cannot demand a level playing field from others only when it suits its own agenda.
Indians will internally debate, question and address our strengths and shortcomings as a democratic country.
Take BharatNet, India’s programme to bring broadband to village-level local bodies. We will question why, as the CAG’s 2026 audit report found, the programme is struggling to meet its original objectives. Why were only 33.2% of service-ready Gram Panchayats operational, despite ₹39,888 crore being spent? At the same time, we know to appreciate our telecom sector and regulations, which has made internet data among the world’s most affordable, bringing millions online.
India is a democracy, not a colony. We welcome the world, but we, the Indian people, will decide our own future - not Western vested interests, their double standards or any billionaire - Indian or American.
Elon Musk's recent thread calling Ambani as PM looks written by a "South Asian", and definitely not like his usual posting style.
Excessive politeness, explanatory style with "so", starting a para with "Also". They are all a give away. Just read them for yourself.
So it seems like a coordinated operation run by the same DS which attacks India's companies and capitalists, but now it's using Elon to make it political.
I am at a loss to understand why Elon is getting influenced this way and letting himself be used to generate animosity with 1.4 billion people.
Especially at a time when his companies are gaining acceptance and good traction in India. If he thinks half the Indians may support him due to politics, he's mistaken.
For the small number of Indians getting carried away politically, and taking side with these foreigners interfering in India's sovereignty:
Do understand Starlink is not being unjustifiably stopped. They are in the same regulatory approval status as India's Jio and Airtel.
They have already got required licenses, setup required infra on the ground, and the distributorship to start operations once the final approval is given. Which is also expected soon along with Jio and Airtel.
But Elon seems to be very frustrated that Starlink wasn't approved two years ago when he clearly could have monopolized Satellite internet in India. Now, with Jio and Airtel competing in parallel for satellite net, it is super tough for Starlink.
So, as an Indian, it is important to understand while getting access to newer tech shouldn't be banned by GoI like pre-1990s India, it is also important to have a choice, competition, and clarity on security implications.
The politicians who have suddenly done a 180 degree in taking sides with Elon are the same who were, two years ago, questioning India even considering allowing Starlink claiming "Modi sold out to Elon."
We need to understand these sudden attacks on PM and India's companies are being done in tandem with other, on the ground, operations in India to destabilize and delegitimize the govt - which too has been completely organized via American social media.
The same Elon talking about how India will benefit with Starlink, when it is actually being considered for approval, doesn't say a word about how China - which bans most American companies in strategic sectors and never even considered Starlink - will benefit from it.
From this alone you can understand the agenda. India has enough services, network, the NDRF, and the Army, who can setup communication anywhere, to save our men women and children during a disaster.
Beware of such white savior syndrome. Need to remind ourselves, East India Company came in saying "Indians will benefit from western trade."
@annamalai_k I read this one in today's Junior Vikatan print edition. It is well written with dialogues around on leadership across all levels. Looking forward to reading the further imprints. Best wishes

One of the best profile reads I have read in recent times.
It's long-form, but worth it completely
Thanks @patrick_oshag and the entire team for this one.
Incredible one.
Your feed will always be full of people teaching you how to feel better, get fit, earn more, travel better & look good. But none of them will tell you to spend less time on social media, read more, build something of your own and spend more time with your family. That's the worst business model for them. Because these influencers depends on your attention to make their living. And nobody who makes a living from your attention will ever tell you to look away. Everyone is experiencing brain fog. Stop scrolling and stop watching stupid reels.
About a year ago, a Princeton student named Kyler Zhou was sitting in traffic in New Jersey. At some point he was so bored that he put on a podcast with… me 🙃
It was my usual talk about the talent crisis. About the smartest kids of a generation going to work for McKinsey and Goldman Sachs, while the biggest problems in the world go unsolved, blablabla, you may have heard it by now ;)
What’s interesting is what happened next. As soon as Kyler got home, he emailed me and The School for Moral Ambition (the organization we started to get talented people working on the world's biggest problems).
Kyler wanted to bring this to Princeton.
Well, we told him no 😅. We had just launched our first university fellowship at Harvard, and there was no capacity for a second campus...
Kyler decided to ignore us. Three days into the semester, he launched the first* Moral Ambition Chapter at a university in the United States. In just a few days, more than 120 Princeton students signed up. In November of last year I visited, and the energy was simply AMAZING.
Since then, everything has been escalating. Students have started Moral Ambition Chapters at Brown, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Georgetown and 5 other campuses – often before we've heard of them.
Which brings me to today. After the launch of our Harvard Fellowship (8% of ALL Harvard juniors applied to the first cohort!), we're now also launching Moral Ambition Fellowships at Princeton, Brown, Vanderbilt and Stanford. The program is simple: twelve super talented students per campus, a $15,000 stipend, and a summer working full-time on the most important causes of our time, like lead poisoning or child poverty or ending factory farming or AI safety etc. – instead of polishing a boring corporate pitch deck.
It's just incredible to see how quickly this movement is growing. Every year, thousands of brilliant graduates are funneled into corporate careers that add little to the world. More and more of them are starting to walk the other way.
(For students: applications for Harvard, Princeton, Brown and Vanderbilt are open now. Stanford opens October 6. https://t.co/3dM17vtNbC)
* Brown University claims that they were actually the first – I've decided to stay neutral in this quarrel 😅

Steve Kerr says Roger Federer taught his Warriors team the secret to sustained success wasn’t outworking everyone, it was building a life around your craft you never want to escape from
“I’ll tell you a great story about Roger Federer. We were playing in China with the Warriors in 2017. Roger was in Shanghai for the Masters tournament, so we invited him to come speak to the team.”
“Draymond Green asked him, ‘How do you sustain success? How have you managed to win majors 20 years after you first won one?’ Everyone was expecting him to say, ‘I work harder than everybody,’ the will, all the clichés.”
“Roger Federer says, ‘I get up every morning and I make breakfast for my kids. Then I take them to school and drop them off. Then I go practice tennis for about two hours, and I’ve figured out a really good routine where I don’t destroy my body, but I can get all the work in I need.”
“‘Then I go have lunch with my wife. In the evening, we cook dinner together. The kids are all home from school. We ask them about school. There’s so much joy in the house. We put them to bed, and then I put my head on the pillow and go, “Man, that was just a great day.” And I’ve been doing that for 20 years.’”
“And it was like, yes. That’s it. That’s the formula. That’s what leads to sustained success. He loves tennis. He loves his family. He loves life. It’s not outworking everybody and banging your head against the wall, ‘I’m going to be better than everybody.’ It’s allowing your natural talent to shine through with a work ethic, with a great family life, with perspective, with peace, with mindfulness.”
“It’s perspective. It’s joy. It’s passion. It’s mindfulness. It’s an awareness that we are truly lucky. To get the most out of ourselves, it’s our daily rituals and experiences and love and joy.”
" I have never succeeded very much in anything in which I was not very interested. If you can't somehow find yourself very interested in something, I don't think you'll succeed very much, even if you're fairly smart " - Charlie Munger
Find something in which you are immensely interested and pour yourself into that craft. Your life will change 360 degrees in 2-3 years, in terms of scale and size.
His father is a truck driver. He failed every subject in college. He then launched India's first reusable hybrid rocket and built a company now valued at ₹800 crore.
Here is how it happened.
Anand Megalingam grew up in Tamil Nadu, walking six kilometres to school every day. When he joined college to study Electrical and Electronics Engineering, he failed every single subject in his first semester. Every single one.
His love of sports saved him. It earned him a seat at a private college where, almost by accident, he enrolled in Aeronautical Engineering. The subject took over his life. He competed. He won. And when he had enough prizes and enough conviction, he founded Space Zone India in December 2021.
Before he built a rocket, he did one more thing. He made his father a co-founder and 50% stakeholder of the company.
"My dad has been there from the beginning, supporting me through every challenge," he said.
Work on RHUMI-1 began in January 2023. Tight deadlines. Limited funding. The first prototypes did not work. Regulatory hurdles piled up. The team triple-checked everything until the last minute.
On August 24, 2024, at the coastal village of Thiruvidandhai in Tamil Nadu, Anand pressed the ignition button.
Nothing happened for four seconds.
"These four seconds were probably the longest four seconds of my life," he said. "I remember that the entire year, my team, the government, and everyone's hopes flashed before my eyes."
Then RHUMI-1 lifted off. India's first reusable hybrid rocket, powered by a combination of solid fuel and liquid oxidizer, rose from a mobile launch pad, reaching suborbital space and carrying three cube satellites and 50 PICO satellites for atmospheric climate research.
The boy who once failed every subject launched India's first reusable rocket from a beach in Tamil Nadu.
And his father's name is on the company. That was Anand's first decision; Before the rocket, before the launch and before any of it.
Utilise Time well to make lot of Money
Utilise the Money to get back the Freedom to pursue things that you are immensely interested
Now, Utilise Time and Money to create an value impact in the world
You may have all the potential and talent in the world, but if it remains invisible and dormant to the external world, you would still lead an ordinary existence.
The biggest sin and greatest tragedy is having the awareness that you have huge upside potential and yet constantly doubting yourself and your abilities.
Do not become the biggest obstacle to your own growth
Do you feel the Monday Morning Blues more often than you’d like?
For some, it’s temporary. For others, it quietly becomes a constant.
That’s when it’s time to pay attention.
What feels like Sunday evening dread or Monday morning discomfort is often your inner voice nudging you toward a different path.
Yet, in the name of practicality and rationality, we suppress it.
Over time, we adapt to the friction, shrink our possibilities, and blame external forces for our situation.
Here’s the truth: life doesn’t flow from what you project outward—it mirrors what lies within.
Unless you address the root cause, you’ll keep reliving the same experiences, mistaking them for fate.
Top achievers across fields share one trait: an unrelenting commitment to living intentionally, in direct alignment with who they truly are and the vision they want to experience.
When you operate in alignment with your core values and natural strengths, performance becomes seamless instead of exhausting.
If you’re a professional or leader who knows there’s more to your current career phase—and you’re ready to design a life aligned with your true potential—let’s connect.
