Tax Audit Season 2026: Finally, It’s a Wrap! 🎉
21st October 2026 marked the end of the extended deadline for filing Tax Audit Reports for FY 2025-26.
What started in May–June has been a long and demanding journey, filled with tight timelines, multiple compliances, deadline extensions and the inevitable last-minute rush.
This year’s closure also marks the end of an era, the final Tax Audit Season under the Income-tax Act, 1961.
The next chapter begins with the Income-tax Act, 2025, ushering in a new framework of provisions, forms and compliance processes.
Beyond the deadlines and workload, this season has been a reminder of the dedication, resilience and commitment that define our profession.
A heartfelt thanks to every client for their continued trust and to all fellow professionals for their relentless efforts.
To all tax professionals, take a pause, celebrate the milestone and give yourself a well-deserved break. You’ve earned it! 🙌
But, of course, the show must go on! 😅
ROC Annual Filings and GST Audits are already waiting in line.
One deadline passes, another approaches, such is the life of a tax professional!
Cheers to everyone who made it through this season. 🥂

✅ TAX AUDIT REPORTS FILED — BUT THE DEMAND REMAINS!
Today, we have completed the filing of the Tax Audit Reports.
The deadline may have been extended to 21st October, and we have fulfilled our professional responsibility.
But our demand remains unchanged.
📢 31ST OCTOBER — PERMANENTLY
We should not have to seek an extension every year.
Tax Audit requires verification, reconciliation, analysis, documentation and professional judgement. A permanent and practical due date will help ensure better-quality audits and better tax compliance.
🇮🇳 OUR DEMAND FROM THE HON'BLE FINANCE MINISTER
In the next Union Budget, we request the Government to make 31st October the permanent due date for filing Tax Audit Reports, from the next financial year onwards.
This is not a demand for relaxation.
It is a demand for a rational, predictable and permanent due date.
🤝 LET US RAISE OUR VOICE TOGETHER
If we believe that quality is more important than a last-minute deadline, let us speak together.
No more annual extensions.
No more uncertainty.
No more working under avoidable last-minute pressure.
🗓️ FIX 31ST OCTOBER AS THE PERMANENT TAX AUDIT DUE DATE.
Adequate Time → Better Verification → Better Audit → Better Compliance

This year tax audit due date should be 31/10/26 due to
1) Our engagement in GST Compliances
2) We couldn’t get many details from clients due to Festival season and holiday
3) This year new issues of TDS return in partnership and new vertical format for Financials were also there
Respected Finance Minister and CBDT, we humbly request an extension of the Tax Audit Due Date until 31st October.
Considering the heavy workload, technical issues on the portal, and practical challenges faced by Chartered Accountants and taxpayers, an extension is essential to ensure accurate and timely compliance.
Please consider the genuine concerns of the CA fraternity and provide the much-needed relief.

Dear @IncomeTaxIndia and @FinMinIndia,
The challenges faced by tax professionals deserve urgent attention. Audit quality, taxpayer interests and professional well-being must not be compromised by impractical timelines.
We strongly request an immediate extension of the Tax Audit Due Date.
#ExtendTaxAuditDueDate #TaxAuditExtension
We respectfully urge the Hon’ble Finance Minister, CBDT and the concerned authorities to consider an extension of the Tax Audit Due Date.
Timely compliance matters, but so do practical difficulties faced by taxpayers and tax professionals.
A fair extension will support better compliance and more reliable audits.

Today is the last date for TAR filing, and there is hardly any demand for an extension.
A clear message: last month’s demand was genuine, not an excuse to avoid work.
Professionals deserve to be heard on time. We have families, festivals and responsibilities too.

🚨 Attention @IncomeTaxIndia:
With today marking the 21st October deadline, an official notification extending the Tax Audit report deadline to 31st October 2026 will bring much-needed relief to thousands of practitioners and taxpayers nationwide! 🙏

🇮🇳 WHEN THE NATION IS CELEBRATING,
CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS ARE STILL WORKING ON TAX AUDITS
Navratri and Vijayadashami are occasions of celebration for the entire nation.
Yet, Chartered Accountants are required to work through this festive period to complete and file Tax Audit Reports, with the extended due date now falling on 21st October.
❌ 21st OCTOBER IS NOT THE RIGHT SOLUTION
An extension from 30th September to 21st October may provide temporary relief, but it does not address the fundamental issue of the due-date structure.
📢 THE TIME HAS COME TO FIX THE DUE DATE PERMANENTLY
From the next financial year onwards, the Tax Audit Report filing due date should be fixed at:
🗓️ 31ST OCTOBER PERMANENTLY
This will provide:
✅ Adequate time for proper verification and reconciliation
✅ Better quality of Tax Audit Reports
✅ Sufficient time to analyse AIS, Form 26AS, TDS and GST data
✅ Less pressure during the festival season
✅ Reduced chances of **errors and omissions
✅ Better compliance for taxpayers as well as the Income Tax Department
TAX AUDIT IS NOT A RACE AGAINST TIME.
It is a professional responsibility requiring verification, analysis, judgement and due care.
LET US NOT ASK FOR AN EXTENSION EVERY YEAR.
LET US FIX THE DATE ONCE AND FOR ALL.
31ST OCTOBER SHOULD BE THE PERMANENT TAX AUDIT DUE DATE.
