📢 AKSC’s 5th Conference Condemns Hindu Supremacist Resolutions of Fremont and Cupertino 🔥
🇮🇳 Holds Indian Consulate Accountable for Enabling Caste Oppression in the USA ✊
On Saturday, September 7, the Ambedkar King Study Circle held its 5th Annual Conference in Cupertino, California, with heightened enthusiasm and energy. The conference centered on the theme "South Asians' Impact: Shaping America's Democracy, Exploring the Intersection of Race, Caste, and Class in Political Assertion." Dr. Biju Mathew described the current supremacist politics as a multiracial right-wing movement, encompassing White, Zionist, and Hindu supremacy. He argued that defeating Hindu supremacy in the U.S. requires also defeating White and Zionist supremacy.
Mr. Manoj Mitta delivered an insightful speech highlighting the legal parallels between the civil rights movements in India and the U.S. He emphasized that while the history of legal achievements, such as voting rights in the U.S., is well-documented and widely taught, the fight against caste oppression in India is not equally recognized or accessible in mainstream history books. Dr. Sharat Lin explored the origins of Zionism and the diversity within Jewish sects, with a focus on Mizrahi Jews of Middle Eastern and North African descent. He presented demographic data and examined the intersections of Zionist ideology, Hindu upper-caste supremacy, and white supremacy, highlighting their historical and contemporary connections. Lin's analysis shed light on the complex identity and power dynamics within and between these communities.
Ms. Woods Ervin provided insightful commentary on grassroots organizing for prison abolition in the U.S., emphasizing the impact of the 2008 economic crisis on Black communities and the progressive changes achieved in California, such as halting jail construction. She highlighted state pushback, including the criminalization of homelessness, and stressed the importance of cross-movement alliances to challenge the growing multiracial right. Ms. Ervin also urged voting "No" on California's Proposition 36, which threatens ongoing efforts for prison reform.
The conference strongly condemned the Fremont and Cupertino City Councils' resolutions, which disguise caste-based discrimination under the guise of religious freedom and diversity. It called on all policy-making bodies to remain vigilant against the harmful tactics of Hindu supremacists aiming to undermine civil rights and justice for the caste-oppressed. The conference was critical of the Indian Consulate in San Francisco for featuring and giving a platform to city council members and Democratic Party donors responsible for the above dubious resolutions, such as Hung Wei and Sheila Mohan of Cupertino City Council, and Lily Mei and Raj Salwan of Fremont City Council. Such actions by the Indian Consulate exacerbate the alienation of the caste-oppressed from the Indian government. The conference called on the Consulate to remain impartial and avoid endorsing divisive figures.
The DNC is refusing to allow a Palestinian American to speak on stage — all while U.S.-funded bombs keep falling on Palestinian families.
We’re not backing down.
Call Democratic leadership right now and demand they #LetPalestineSpeak: https://t.co/BQite2XjvB

1964: Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party tried to end segregation by getting a seat at the table and the Party to support civil rights.
2024: @uncommittedmvmt trying to win a ceasefire by getting a Palestinian speaker and an arms embargo.
#LetPalestineSpeak#NotAnotherBomb
Why won't the DNC #LetPalestineSpeak? We need Palestinians to speak for themselves about the direct impact of US policy. Let @demconvention know Palestinian voices matter
There are videos coming out of Rafah today of beheaded babies.
Actual beheaded babies that you can see for yourselves - not the beheaded babies that the Israeli authorities invented to justify their genocidal assault, or the ones that Biden falsely claimed to have seen pix of.
