SILVER for Team India at the 46th Chess Olympiad! 🇮🇳
A clutch win by Arjun Erigaisi secured the podium for us. Plus, India takes home the Nona Gaprindashvili Cup for the 3rd consecutive time! 🏆
Huge congrats to Uzbekistan (Gold) and Germany (Bronze)

Super tough day against Uzbekistan. Indian Open team’s first loss in any team event since 2022.
Starting from the 2024 Olympiad, we’ve had a ritual of picking our Player of the Day. Yesterday, it was unanimous: Nihal.
The message was: Whilst results do matter, the effort and process matter more. Results don’t always convey the full story. It doesn’t show the attitude behind.
Nihal played his heart and soul out. He could have played it safe, stayed solid, and likely, blameless. But he went for it from the word go, despite having Black. It was only because of his incredible fight that the team got into its best chance to beat Uzbekistan after 4 draws between the two powerhouse teams.
Every great result, including our 2024 Olympiad win came on the back of years of preparation coupled with earlier struggles and setbacks. Our result yesterday was a similar stepping stone towards some great result in the future.
The result didn’t go our way yesterday. But I am sure Nihal will win us many medals in both the near, and distant future. 🇮🇳❤️
I saw a lot of negative comments on @srinathchess regarding the board order. People should understand that he is one of the best coaches we have, he has been there and done that. All are entitled to their opinion, but personal attacks were not cool..team is one as you can see!
2 player visa got rejected of Namibia Open team in Tashkent arrival with no solid reason on visa on arrival. As the captain of the team this is frustrating as we have only 3 players now.

Help us out. #ChessOlympiad@ChessbaseIndia@chesscom
Having a terrible experience at the @FIDE_chess 2026 Olympiad.
The team landed 5 hours ago at Samarkand airport. The team still haven’t been allotted rooms, with absolutely no clarity on when it’ll be allotted.
I have no issues with events inviting whoever they wish.
Just don't pretend that you have a "fair" system of invites.
If it was fair, Arjun would have been invited. Instead of Levon or Duda.
Just accept that being in the good books of @STLChessClub is the key criteria.
Very surprising Arjun not in this.
Maybe he thinks bring fresh for Grand Swiss/world cup is more important.
Would be truly bizarre is he wasn't invited.
The Maharashtra State Chess Association felicitated the Indian stars for their Double Gold medal in the Chess Olympiad with Rs. 9,00,000!
Vidit Gujrathi (Board no.4 in the Indian Open Team), Abhijit Kunte (Captain of Indian Women's Team), Divya Deshmukh (Indian Women's Team Board no.3) and Sankalp Gupta (Indian Women's Team Assistant Coach) were felicitated and given cash rewards. Divya and Sankalp were unable to be present in person, so they attended the event online.
Vidit and Divya received Rs. 3,00,000 each. The coaches Abhijit and Sankalp received Rs. 1,50,000 each for their efforts. A wonderful gesture by the Maharashtra Chess Association!

A few days ago as the Honourable CM @mkstalin and Sports Minister @Udhaystalin felicitated us, I recalled the years of support nurtured by the @tamilnadugov and @SportsTN_
Our Olympiad win can be seen as a full grown crop now, but there were numerous seeds sown along the way which made this possible. One such seed was sown by the TN Govt when they organized the Chennai Chess Olympiad in 2022. Being the host, it allowed us to field multiple teams, which gave players like Gukesh, Pragg, Divya, Vantika a chance to play their debut offline olympiad(Arjun was in the A team and would have played anyway). I am sure those experiences helped them grow along the way.
Another such seed was their organization of the 2023 Chennai GM tournament, which was a very important stepping stone in Gukesh's path to the candidates.
It is my sincere wish to see similar support from other states towards their players and coaches as well, so that chess and its ecosystem continue to rise across India.
It was a great privilege to meet Honourable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi at his residence. Had a wonderful interaction and he conveyed his best wishes! Thanks to @PMOIndia
After 2022 Olympiad's devastating miss
fuck it we decided, we are going to bring this win into existence
2 years later: our boys delivered the most dominating performance in 2024 Chess Olympiad history
*hey Siri, play "we are the champions" on a loop*
Incredibly fortunate to work with selfless individuals like Srinath & Vaibhav, who created a supportive environment. Special shout-out to Srinath, who handled an insane schedule—accompanying players till the last game, prepping late into the night, and starting again the next day!💪
An unforgettable experience being the trainer for the Indian Team at the Olympiad! Front row to their brilliance—surreal doesn't even begin to describe it. Women winning as well made it extra special!
