Imam Malik رحمه الله said:
“I have been informed that Luqman said to his son:
‘O my son, the first thing you should acquire from this world, after a righteous friend, is a righteous wife.’”

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Beware of entering upon women.”
A man from the Ansar said: “O Messenger of Allah, what about the brother-in-law?”
He ﷺ replied: “The brother-in-law is death.”

What does “the brother-in-law is death” mean?
It was said to A'isha:
"A man says you're not his mother."
So she replied:
"He spoke the truth, I am the mother of believers, not hypocrites."
[الشريعة للأجري ٥/٢٣٩٣]
Fuḍayl ibn ʿIyāḍ رحمه الله:
"Neglecting to do a good deed in order to please people is nifaaq (hypocrisy), whereas doing a good deed to please people is shirk (polytheism)
Sincerity is that Allah protects you from both of those acts."

Umar bin Abdul-Aziz d.101 (may Allah have Mercy on him) said:
"If you see a man constantly being silent and avoids socialising with the people then get close to him. Surely, this man has been given wisdom."

There are those who wage a campaign of distortion to dissuade Muslims from following the Sunnah, claiming that we should follow the Qur’an alone and abandon the Sunnah. But how can one ask us to follow the light and ignore the torchbearer who brought it?
