@simpsons_DG@lisamcneil47@JennyENicholson nothing "average" about 30 units of alcohol at a single meal. the average british drinker has 11.6 units a WEEK (2021 data) and only 48% of british adults drink at least once a week (2022 data). big drinkers always think their consumption is normal - it's not!
@Unixsystem13@hyp36rmax@thechosenberg there is nothing intrinsically "healthy" about iv fluids. They're a medical treatment, not a health supplement. The water you drink is better for you than any iv fluid.
@postoctobrist i like my job and it is sometimes rewarding, but working for the nhs is an endless exercise in trying to balance helping people while limiting your own moral injury enough to actually enjoy your life
@postoctobrist this is one area where the media messaging is far removed from the reality on the ground. We have plenty of doctors, there's just not enough training posts for them to progress. it's a system designed to create a glut of SHOs who can be paid less and less to fill gaps
