Just gave the keynote at the Pike County Schools Hall of Fame event.
Grew up here. Used to sneak out of class to stare at clouds & download radar scans.
Tonight, I got to stand up there and talk about chasing dreams, caring deeply, and proving the world wrong.
Meant a lot. Big thanks to the faculty for the opportunity!

For just $3 of your tax dollars a year, the @NWS (part of #NOAA) save countless lives and billions in damage with their forecasts! Best bang for your buck in government spending if you ask me!
Last year, all of our top videos were driven by vague seasonal outlooks & sensational titles /thumbnails. This is the typical YouTube formula. I am proud of these videos, the science & data presented is solid & I loved making them.
However, this year, we took a more data driven, short term approach. We focused on life saving live coverage and only rang the alarm bells when it was 100% necessary. I feel like this has been a better, more sustainable approach.
It also didn't hurt the channel growth, it only helped.
2023 views = 98 million
2024 views = 120 million (so far)
I'm excited for this medium of weather coverage to continue to grow and improve!
Today’s my last day of vacation with the fam. I’ll have lots of updates on this upcoming tropical system & more severe weather coverage starting in a couple days.
Thanks, y'all for giving me the best job in the world! This is a huge milestone I did not imagine we'd get to when I started a nerdy YouTube weather channel just a few years ago...
