Spotlights is an online platform and a community that helps you easily find the best local businesses in a given niche.

Here is how it works:

1. Search spotlights (like hot chicken, drywall repair, hair colorists, etc) to discover the best businesses in your city
2. Upvote the businesses you like for a given spotlight
3. Nominate businesses to the spotlight by answering a few questions conversationally.

- Directly ask clients about specific problems they'd pay to solve today, and check if other companies face similar issues.

- Create a landing page or demo video and promote it on X.

One of the primary themes that came out of talking to idea stage startups is the focus they have on raising money.

I heard a lot of “when I raise xx here is the plan I will execute”.

My free (unsolicited) advice:

Explore ways to help your customers with minimal or no initial product development.

If you are an enterprise saas explore ways to build the product using client’s money. This is what I’m trying to do for both the projects I’m working on.
