RIP. Arkansas Police Officer Trevor Howard, who gave his life in the line of duty, is the 51st officer lost in 2026.
Police Officer Trevor Howard, 25, was killed in a vehicle crash at approximately 2:50 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Nathan streets in Marked Tree.
Officer Howard, positioned in the passenger seat, was on patrol with another officer when their patrol truck collided with a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign. The impact of the crash, predominantly on the passenger side of the patrol vehicle, caused the truck to overturn. Officer Howard succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other officer was transported to NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis in serious condition.
Officer Howard had worked with the Marked Tree Police Department for nearly two months. Outside of his service, he was a musician and an active member of his church.
Officer Howard is survived by his wife, daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother.

RIP. North Carolina Deputy Sheriff Damian Bost, who gave his life in the line of duty, is the 49th officer lost in 2026.
Deputy Sheriff Damian Bost, 30, was struck and killed by the driver of a tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 74/76 near the Hallsboro Road exit.
At 10:40 a.m., Deputy Bost was parked in the median with his cruiser lights activated. He was at the construction scene to warn drivers about the repaving project when a tractor-trailer in the westbound lane hit his cruiser. A construction worker was also injured.
The driver was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, reckless driving, and failure to reduce speed.
Deputy Bost had served with the Columbus County Sheriff's Office for eight years.
He is survived by his wife, two children, and parents.

Georgia Police Officer Dustin Krish, who gave his life in the line of duty, is the 46th officer lost in 2026.
RIP. Police Officer Dustin Krish, 33, succumbed to injuries he received when he was struck by the driver of a car while directing traffic on June 11, 2025.
Officer Krish was directing traffic on Highway 27 in Carrollton due to construction lane closures. A car traveling southbound passed through the light, struck Officer Krish, and then crashed into another vehicle. Officer Krish was thrown several feet into the air. He was airlifted to Marietta’s Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center, where he underwent multiple surgeries for severe brain injuries.
On June 2, 2026, his condition deteriorated, and he passed away on June 9, 2026.
Officer Krish had served with the Carrollton Police Department for over three years. Survivors include his wife and brother, who also serves with the agency.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Officer Kristin Yeager, Central Berks Regional Police Department Pennsylvania who was killed last night. The 42 year old was crashed and was ejected from her patrol car. She is survived by a husband and 3 children
Hunter Lopez was just 22 years old when he was killed at Kabul airport during the final days of the Afghanistan w@r.
In the moments before the explosion, he was helping evacuate children from the chaos.
Lopez was a U.S. Marine from California, raised in a family with a strong tradition of public service. Both of his parents worked in law enforcement, and those who knew him said he had always been certain about his path in life. He chose to serve his country and became a Marine.
In August 2021, during the frantic evacuation after the Taliban took control of Kabul, he was deployed to Abbey Gate, where thousands of civilians crowded in desperate attempts to flee.
Families were separated in the crush, children were lost in the chaos, and panic filled the air.
Lopez moved straight into that danger.
Witnesses later said he helped pull children from the surging crowd and carried them to safety. At one point, he is believed to have rescued two young girls who were at risk of being crushed.
He passed children to safety, handed out water, and helped guide frightened civilians through the gates.
Moments later, a suicide bombing occurred near Abbey Gate. The explosion killed 13 U.S. service members, including Hunter Lopez, along with more than 170 Afghan civilians.
This is Sergeant Brandon Mendoza.
He was killed by an intoxicated illegal immigrant driving the wrong way on the freeway.
He was 32 years old and had spent 13 years serving as a police officer.

New Mexico Sergeant Joseph Apodaca, who gave his life in the line of duty, is the 42nd officer lost in 2026.
RIP. Sergeant Joseph Apodaca, 36, was killed pursuing a wreckless driver at approximately 11:44 pm on NM-518 near a driveway at the 7200 block, between Ranchos de Taos and Talpa.
Around 10:25 pm that evening, Taos County Sheriff's deputies were searching for a suspected reckless driver and were alerted that the suspect had used a driveway near the 7200 block. As Sergeant Apodaca was turning into the drive, his motorcycle collided with a sheriff's deputy pickup truck turning left into the drive. Sergeant Apodaca suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene.
The suspected reckless driver is still at large.
Sergeant Apodaca had served with the Taos County Sheriff's Office for 8 years, had previously served with the county jail, and was a member of the Swift Water Rescue Team.

Maine Game Warden Pilot Joshua Tibbetts, who gave his life in the line of duty, is the 40th officer lost in 2026.
Game Warden Pilot Joshua Tibbetts, 50, was killed when his Maine Warden Service plane crashed in Avon
Game Warden Tibbetts was stocking fish and collecting data on a solo flight before an unknown cause led to his crash. It was a routine operation that officials from MDIFW described as being over typical terrain. His aircraft automatically dispatched a distress call around 11 a.m.
Game Warden Tibbetts’s career with the Warden Service began in 2008, and he was promoted to a pilot in 2023. He had previously served as a deputy for the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office.

Border Patrol Agent Sean McDonough, who gave his life in the line of duty, is the 37th officer lost in 2026.
RIP. United States Border Patrol Agent Sean McDonough suffered a medical emergency while performing marine unit water training in Alexandria Bay, NY.
Agent McDonough served in the National Guard from March 1996 to March 2004 and on active duty with the U.S. Army as a Military Police officer from September 2002 to September 2003, earning the Army Commendation Medal and Overseas Service Ribbon. In March 2007, he began his career with the U.S. Customs & Border Protection, working in Arizona, Maine, and finally on Wellesley Island.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, his parents, two sisters, his grandmother, two nieces, and a nephew.

RIP. Kentucky Deputy Sheriff Richard Coyle succumbed to wounds he sustained on April 2,2026 when he was shot while serving papers at a residence.
Deputy Coyle and additional officers were serving emergency guardianship paperwork when they were met with guntre. Others returned tire, killing the suspect.
Deputy Coyle, 58,had served with the Crittenden County Sheriff's Office for two years as a School Resource Officer. Before coming to Crittenden County, Coyle spent nearly 3 decades in law enforcement in Illinois, including 28 years with the Chicago Police Department and service on a SWAT team, where he participated in more than 2,000 missions.
He is survived by his wife, sister, and three nieces.

RIP. Oklahoma Deputy Sheriff Thomas "Walker" LeMay was murdered when he was shot and killed during a welfare check in Wister, at a home off of Highway 270 at approximately 11:00 a.m.
On April 19, officers from the LeFlore County Sheriff's Office, the Wister Police Department, and the U.S. Forestry Department, were called to assist with a welfare check at a residence. Upon arrival they were met with gunfire; when the officers returned fire the suspect retreated into the residence and barricaded himself inside. During the exchange of gunfire, Deputy Sheriff LeMay and a Wister police officer were struck, and Deputy Sheriff LeMay was pronounced dead at the scene.
After several hours, and the response of additional agencies including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the suspect surrendered and was treated for minor injuries, then taken into custody.
The Wister officer was moved to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Deputy LeMay was a true servant of the people, he is survived by his parents, brother, and a baby girl.
