🚨 Before you upgrade your NOC to upgrade your CRS, have a look at the screenshot below!

With the recent Express Entry changes, I can imagine many candidates are already approaching their employers to get updated employment letters reflecting higher-paying occupations.

Pls remember that IRCC doesn't simply look at your current Express Entry profile in isolation. It can also compare the information you provided in your previous profiles.

The attached screenshot is from an actual Procedural Fairness Letter (PFL), where IRCC questioned an applicant for declaring different NOC codes and job positions with the same employer across multiple Express Entry profiles.

In this particular case, IRCC specifically referred to previous profiles where the applicant did not have enough CRS points to receive an ITA.

So, changing your NOC might improve your CRS score on paper, but it could also raise questions about the credibility of your employment history.

Of course, genuine changes in job duties or corrections to previously inaccurate information can be explained and supported with evidence.

But simply rewriting your employment letter to fit a higher-point NOC is a different story.

Remember, an ITA is only an invitation. Your claims still need to survive IRCCs
scrutiny.

Don't let the excitement of gaining a few extra CRS points turn into the headache of responding to a PFL!!!

2025 IRCC internal document acknowledges that IRCC's public guidance on studying in Canada without a study permit was unclear.

It further says that the IRCC website could result in foreign nationals incorrectly believing that they could undertake short-term studies at any point during their authorized stay in Canada.

It recommended updating IRCC’s public guidance to better reflect the Department’s interpretation of the regulation.

IRCC anticipated that the clarification could generate public concern because there might already be visitors in Canada undertaking short-term courses based on the existing guidance.
