Forest conservation and restoration are vital to protecting Kenya's water sources, biodiversity and climate.
Through H.E. President @WilliamsRuto's ambitious target of planting 15 billion trees by 2030, the Government seeks to expand forest cover, restore degraded landscapes and secure a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.
As part of the 3rd Mazingira Day celebrations, I presided over a tree-planting exercise at Lambwe Forest in Homa Bay County.
After nearly a decade of abandonment, Kamariny Stadium had become synonymous with neglect and stalled public projects. That chapter is now being rewritten.
Under the current administration, construction and access-road works are progressing at the historic facility in Iten, with Sports Kenya overseeing the transformation into a modern athletics and sporting hub.
The upgraded stadium will accommodate between 10,000 and 15,000 spectators and feature an eight-lane tartan track, a standard football pitch, changing rooms and a VIP pavilion.
A subsequent phase will provide specialised accommodation for athletes, further strengthening Iten's position as a global centre for high-altitude training.
The new track will allow athletes to undertake quality speed work and competition preparation closer to home, while the growing presence of international athletes, coaches and spectators will create new opportunities for hotels, training camps and local enterprises.
The surrounding investment is extending beyond the stadium, with three link roads and street lighting improving access, mobility and security across Iten.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration has an important role in ensuring that as this infrastructure opens the region to greater economic activity, investment and tourism, it is matched by a secure environment in which local businesses can thrive.
Access to quality, affordable and efficient healthcare is a non-negotiable right and the Government's Universal Health Coverage (UHC) reforms are being matched with the infrastructure and equipment needed to make this a reality.
The comprehensive modernisation and expansion of Siaya County Referral Hospital, implemented jointly by the national and county governments with construction led by Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) engineers, is transforming the facility into a Level 5 referral hub for the Lake Victoria region, with capacity set to rise to 500 beds.
The new Surgical Theatre and ICU Complex has completed civil works and is undergoing final equipping, with four modern theatres, a 10-bed ICU, a Central Sterile Services Department, pharmacies, X-ray and CT-scan facilities.
Work is also advancing on a specialised Mother and Child Complex, an Accident, Emergency and Outpatient Department with a dialysis centre and expanded inpatient wards designed to ease congestion and improve isolation capacity.
Through the National Equipment Supplies Programme, the Ministry of Health is deploying digital X-ray systems, advanced laboratory equipment and specialised cardiology units to complement the new infrastructure.
The expanded capacity will be complemented by health-financing reforms under the Social Health Authority (SHA) and Taifa Care, which seek to reduce reliance on out-of-pocket payments and ease the financial burden of medical care on households.
Accessible healthcare is also integral to safe and stable communities, particularly when emergencies require rapid and coordinated response. The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration is supporting inter-agency coordination around the project, helping safeguard critical health infrastructure and create a secure environment for uninterrupted delivery of essential medical services. https://t.co/46hDRjPupJ
A nation does not rise on ambition alone. It rises on the hands that wire, weld, cook, code and build.
That is why the Government is investing in technical and vocational training institutions, where education meets the workplace and young people acquire practical, relevant and marketable skills.
A workforce trained this way is the human capital that will propel the Kenyan dream, and P.C. Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute in Dagoretti South is part of that investment.
Established in 1979 as a Technical Secondary School in keeping with the vision of Kenya's first President, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the institution was upgraded to a Technical Training Institute in 1987.
Today, that vision is being expanded through a 15-classroom block delivered by the Government, increasing the institute's capacity to admit and train more students.
Its impact goes beyond additional rooms. More young people can access technical education, training spaces become less congested and more learners gain the skills to enter employment, start enterprises and contribute to the economy.
PCKTTI offers a broad progression from Artisan and Craft Certificate courses to Diplomas in mechanical, automotive, electrical, electronic and civil engineering, as well as food and beverage production, catering, institutional management, applied sciences, supply chain management, business management and accountancy.
Its Jitume Lab, established in partnership with Ajira Digital, further extends this mandate into the digital economy, equipping young people with skills such as AI graphic design that can be converted into livelihoods.
A strong public service ultimately depends on the people behind it. The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration therefore has a direct stake in a workforce equipped with the technical, digital and practical skills required to build, maintain, process and deliver government services efficiently.

Kenya 🇰🇪 has signed a Sh390 billion ($3 billion) deal with Endelevu Enterprise Corporation, in partnership with Chinese automaker Geely, for a proposed electric vehicle manufacturing project.
The plan includes local assembly of up to 50,000 four-wheel vehicles and 100,000 two-wheelers and light vehicles annually, along with about 1,000 solar-powered charging hubs.
The decline of the sugar industry over the years has had far-reaching effects on livelihoods, trade and the wider economy of the larger Western Kenya Sugar Belt.
The ongoing construction of the Mamboleo–Miwani–Chemelil–Muhoroni–Kipsitet Road (C674) is part of the broader commitment to revitalise the Western Kenya Sugar Belt by strengthening connectivity, easing the movement of goods and supporting renewed economic activity.
Overseen by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), the 122-kilometre corridor traverses Kisumu, Nandi and Kericho counties and is being implemented in three lots.
The first includes a 6.5-kilometre dual carriageway, while the other sections link key centres across the sugar belt.
Built to dense bitumen macadam standards, the road is designed to withstand the heavy commercial traffic generated by the region's sugar mills and industries.
Once complete, it will provide an alternative freight route, easing congestion at the Ahero interchange and reducing heavy truck traffic through Kisumu's Central Business District.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration will continue to support measures that promote road safety and protect critical infrastructure along this strategic corridor.
Regular engagement between leaders and the public promotes transparency, builds trust and keeps citizens informed. It also provides an opportunity for leaders to listen to public concerns, receive feedback and respond to emerging needs.

Kisumu's iconic legacy estates are taking on a new character as the city grows into a vibrant lakeside urban and socio-economic hub.
The transformation of the former 63-year-old Anderson-Ofafa Estate into Anderson Park Residence demonstrates this shift, replacing ageing housing with contemporary homes suited to the needs and aspirations of a growing city.
Construction of the mixed-use development began in July 2024 through a partnership between the Kisumu County Government and County Pension Fund (CPF) LAPTRUST.
Phase 1 comprises 681 apartments across seven blocks; 31 one-bedroom, 464 two-bedroom and 186 three-bedroom units, together with 65 retail spaces.
The development brings modern urban living closer to Kisumu's city centre, with features including piped cooking gas, high-speed lifts, backup power, borehole water, fibre connectivity, a gym, rooftop residents' lounge and commercial spaces. A swimming pool is planned under Phase 2.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration is supporting the development through urban coordination mechanisms that help safeguard essential public utilities, promote orderly operations and facilitate the project's integration into Kisumu's expanding urban landscape.
For generations, communities along Lake Victoria have depended on the lake for their livelihoods, but reduced catches, limited market access and shrinking earnings have increasingly undermined household incomes.
The Government is responding through the Blue Economy agenda under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), with investments such as the Kabonyo Kanyagwal Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Training Centre of Excellence in Kadibo Sub-County, Kisumu County, designed to revitalise fisheries, expand aquaculture and restore livelihoods across the Lake Region.
Located on 25 acres, the modern facility will serve as a centre for aquaculture training, fish production and access to commercial cold-chain markets.
It will include a large hatchery, 20 specialised fish ponds, a flood-control canal to manage backflow from Lake Victoria and River Nyando, as well as administrative offices, staff quarters and trainee accommodation.
The centre is expected to produce about 28 million fingerlings annually for restocking Lake Victoria, supporting cage fish farming and supplying affordable fish feeds and aquaculture inputs to farmers in Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya, Migori and Busia counties.
This will strengthen fish production while creating opportunities for farmers, traders and other players across the value chain.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration is working with relevant agencies and local communities to provide the coordination and security needed for the project to succeed.

From a converted colonial sanatorium, State House Girls' High School has grown into an institution whose name carries both prestige and a promise of leadership.
Just a heartbeat from the gates of the State House, Nairobi, its identity is now defined as much by excellence as by proximity.
Growing enrolment and the rollout of Senior School under the Competency-Based Education exposed severe overcrowding, prompting an infrastructural expansion that adds 21 new classrooms alongside modern science and computer laboratories, all complete awaiting installation of necessary equipment and official commissioning.
The new classrooms feature integrated digital systems, including televisions, while the Biology, Chemistry and Physics laboratories will be fitted with modern safety features and equipment to support STEM pathways. Upon completion, the fully networked computer laboratory will also strengthens ICT and computer studies.
With the expansion, the State House Girls' can now accommodate more than 1,700 students across 24 instructional rooms, easing pressure on existing facilities while creating capacity for future Senior School cohorts.
Security remains an essential part of this investment, with the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration having a direct role in ensuring that the expanded school environment remains secure and orderly. This supports the conditions in which the new facilities can serve their purpose; giving girls a safe setting in which to learn, develop their talents and prepare for the responsibilities ahead.
Ruto is the right president at right time!
Gikomba Market phase 1 is 98% complete.
The project has three modern blocks, each designed to accommodate 2,000!
The market creates a space for over 6000 traders.
Flooding and repeated fires at Gikomba are going to be things of the past.
God is blessing Kenyans through President Ruto! His exemplary performance scorecard is a testimony to this. The tribalists can not swallow this but they can't challenge this truth.
