The most pressured NHS and local authority systems have the least wriggle room to go further on prevention & early intervention, fueling cycle of ever higher personal and financial costs of treating harm to people that could & should have been avoided
Very busy session on Prevention with @NHSEnglandNMD 🩺
“Prevention is at the heart of what integrated care systems should be doing. A coordinated approach to prevention is key to reducing health inequalities…I have no doubt that this is the right thing to do.”

Today at @ConfedExpo my message was simple — together we have achieved so much, but we have the ambition to do much more.

Great presentation to start the day by our former clinical fellow Zain Hameed talking powerfully about from surviving to thriving : managing a chronic health condition in dentistry @GDC_UK#DentalLeaders
“We have got to care deeply about the things going on in our communities…”
@drandyknox talks about the importance of listening to patients and communities in designing and delivering health services.
“This is how we drive change.”

A man who thinks that people shouting at him in the street is a “threat to democracy” is tonight leaving his would be constituents in Clacton in order to raise money for a man who provoked a riot in order to subvert a democratic vote and who insists any court Verdict against him must be a conspiracy organised from the White House. Spare me the synthetic BS Nigel. You’re never happier than when playing the victim, talking process and avoiding questions on actual issues that require an actual policy response .
Sunak is the most intriguing PM of my time. Why did he go into politics given that he's little sense of public service; no ideology to push; is uncomfortable in the public eye; and is no good at it? Class - for once - is not the answer, but I don't know what is.
Powerful presentation from @BWDDPH - including stories from Ralph, Michelle & Chris who share the positive impact that taking action to ‘live well’ has had on their mental health, physical health & ability to “be the best you.” 👏🏼 🤍

Congratulations @JasonWong12 on your appointment as the permanent Chief Dental Officer for England.
@TheBDA remain ready to work with @NHSEngland and @DHSCgovuk to end the current crisis, and make this service fit for the 21st century.
There are not many times when you have to reluctantly wish an inspirational leader who has championed women in medicine over a number of decades a happy retirement. Celia Ingham Clark you will be missed #NHSEngland @NHSEnglandNMD @CInghamClark@alex_g_wilson
Smoking is the UK’s single biggest preventable killer.
In England, someone is admitted to hospital with a smoking related condition almost every minute.
Creating a smoke-free generation will help save thousands of lives.
It was great to meet colleagues at @SELondonICS to learn more about how teams are working together & engaging with patients to address #overprescribing of medicines.
And it was a privilege to meet some of the people already benefitting from the work.
Great to welcome @NHSEnglandNMD Stephen Powis and team to @NightingaleExt@RoyalDevonNHS to showcase the fantastic innovation and difference we are making to patient care across Devon. Together we can change the way we do things for the better !!
