The Evacuation Alert for the hamlet of Janvier has been lifted. Alberta Wildfire has made significant progress on containing Wildfire LWF-136 (part of the Kettle River Complex) and the much-improved weather conditions will further support those operations.

The Jasper fire is so intense that it is generating its own thunderstorm, with lightning being detected south of Hinton.
Fire-generated lightning also occurred with the Fort McMurray fire.

The AER has fined Canadian Natural Resources Limited for failing to prevent a hazardous substance containing bitumen from coming into contact with birds and other wildlife, resulting in bird fatalities. The AER has ordered CNRL to pay $278,000.
