I’m excited to share that Seek AI has been acquired by IBM, where we are leveraging our AI data agents to build the foundation of a brand-new initiative called watsonx AI Labs.
Back in 2021, I launched Seek when I realized that AI had the potential to automate much of the mundane, repetitive work that I was performing as a quantitative analyst in the finance industry. As one of the first-ever AI-native startups, we quickly realized that this was a technology that pretty much every enterprise would need.
At a Tech:NYC event, I met Arvind Krishna and discovered IBM shared our mission at a much larger scale. Now, as the foundation of watsonx AI Labs at One Madison, we’ll scale our platform, deploy mission-critical solutions for IBM clients, empower the next generation of AI developers, and grow our team significantly.

I've seen a ton of text-to-SQL startups over the last two years - some standalones, some open source, some within big companies.
Most of the evaluations looked like this: "Yes, your model does a good job on four tables [orders, order_items, items, users] with six columns that all have logical names... but we have 1000+ tables, including a Salesforce Opportunities table with 500 semantically similar columns."
I am ready to declare that text-to-SQL now works at industry scale. Be deliberate with semantic layer + context, use metadata, curate your surface area, leverage MCP interfaces, use 3.7 or 4.5. It works.
People have always dreamed of talking directly to their data, but business data lives in large databases accessible only by making manual requests to a small team of technical data specialists.
Despite huge spend on data storage, ROI from analysis remains limited. Seek changes that. This week, we’re giving our first group of customers access to Deep Data Reasoning.
Employees within business units such as marketing, product and operations are highly curious and eager to get their hands on as much data as possible. Deep Data Reasoning is like a firehose putting all of this information at their fingertips.
