Graceworks Worker Fired, Charged with Sexually Abusing Woman with Disabilities

Facts:
Anthony W. Alcorn, 69, from New Carlisle, a Graceworks Lutheran Services employee for eight years as a direct support professional, was charged with two counts of kidnapping, one count of rape, and one count of gross sexual imposition after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman with developmental disabilities in a transport van.

Alcorn pulled into an alley behind the 400 block of Burkhardt Avenue, removed the woman—who requires 24-hour care and lives in a Graceworks group home in Beavercreek—from the van, and raped her, according to an affidavit.

A witness saw the assault, confronted Alcorn, and captured it on video, initially mistaking it for changing her diaper.

Alcorn was arrested Tuesday and held in Montgomery County Jail. Graceworks fired him immediately, condemned the act, and is cooperating with law enforcement, emphasizing the safety of those in their care.

Dayton Police’s Family Justice Center is investigating, with no further details on the victim’s condition released.
