Marco Rubio 2 days ago: “Imagine if Iran funded the well-being of its people, rather than its military”
Trump today: “We can’t fund daycare or Medicaid, we need more money for our military”
Sometimes the jokes write themselves.
If you are outraged after reading this, congratulations: you still have some humanity left.
“There was a car seat in the back with one of those baby blankets you get at the hospital. There were broken glass shards all over it,” he said. “I carefully pulled back the blanket and there was just this tiny peanut of a baby. He was crying.”

Minnesota National Guard was asked why they’re handing out coffee, donuts, and hot chocolate to protesters.
Answer: “It’s a demonstration of safety and security. We’re here to help.”
That’s how you de-escalate.
Not masks. Not threats. Not bullets.
We don’t build the kingdom of God.
• we announce it.
• we seek it.
• we receive it.
• we bear witness to it.
• “we build for it (N.T. Wright)
God builds it.
Prophets are not so much people who can tell the future. They are people who can see the present so clearly as to announce ahead of time what will be if there is no course correction.
@reachjulieroys What would possess a woman to do that, a mother of five children, no less. She followed that man to Angola. Something seems off here. I'm not saying she wasn't involved or didn't do it, but why? What kind of abuses were happening in that home? Makes you wonder.
“Migrant crime is exploding”
“Migrants are eating our pets”
Our willingness to believe claims with no factual support, simply because they paint migrants in a negative light, shows how thoroughly we are failing to love the “least of these.”
You can tell your politics has warped your soul (regardless of your party/ policy positions!) when you start to think “the stakes are too high this time for me to act Christlike” or “this situation is too important for secondary things like love or mercy.”
@mjbatson1991 @JJ_Denhollander I try to be careful to make judgments because I too have internationally adopted kids. But sometimes it's obvious this kind of abuse is occurring. The family I mentioned above had a degree of mental illness a part of it so they just didn't see how what they were doing was wrong.
@JJ_Denhollander @mjbatson1991 It's not the first time I've seen it. We worked in China with an American family who used one of their adopted kids in particular as a pawn. It was painful to watch. They wrote a book about him, were in focus on the family magazine, it was sickening. It was all about profit.
@SteveCollinsSJ@BatesCollege@sunjournal My daughter is a sophomore in high school at Fryeburg Academy. She also was born with a cleft and has a passion for sports. Thank you for sharing McKayla's story!
@heatherdino09 @TheSwedishIvy Whole fat unsweetened yogurt with fresh berries added. I sometimes add nuts.
Bacon/Sausage
Raw vegetables? Sometimes my kids just like cucumbers and tomatoes with humus.
@JBsTwoCents I am grieving for you this morning, Joy! Many of my children have some form of disability and we have also experienced much loss. Not this diagnosis, but this path, I know.
I am here if you ever want to reach out, my well of empathy will not run dry. ❤️
The SBC showed us who they were a long time ago (actually, from the very beginning if we were paying attention).
Sisters, stop wasting your precious energy and emotional bandwidth. Go to places where you are celebrated and encouraged to use all the gifts God has given you.
Y'all -- reading this report is like Deja Vu from Bethlehem
quotes from the SW Board sound like direct quotes made to the Racial Harmony Task Force. The way the Board tactically wielded power is like textbook how it went down at Bethlehem.
But you're going to care for survivors
Every family (and every system) has its own invisible rules. Integrity requires us to do our work, personally and collectively, to make the invisible explicit, to reckon with our contradictions, to create a safe and trustworthy environment where people aren’t confused.
