Rodri is well and truly 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 💪🇪🇸
After winning the Ballon d’Or in October 2024 while recovering from an ACL injury, Rodri suffered a few more setbacks.
But he’s back to his best now, and today he showed exactly why he’s a Ballon d’Or winner. What a performance 😮💨
Rodri’s masterclass today:
🎯 87% pass accuracy
🥇 Most ground duels won (7)
🥇 Most total duels won (11)
🥇 Joint-most tackles made (4)
🥈 Second-most accurate passes (59)
Trump has spent years trying to end birthright citizenship, only to call FIFA himself to help Folarin Balogun, an American by birth, get cleared to face Belgium in the World Cup Round of 16.
Turns out birthright citizenship is terrible… until you need goals.
His club contract expired on June 1. He entered the World Cup unemployed.
Vozinha turned professional at 25, in 2007, the same year Lamine Yamal was born. Nineteen years followed across six countries: Cape Verde, Angola, Moldova, Portugal, Cyprus, Slovakia. One trophy the whole time, a Cypriot Cup in 2019. His last deal was with Chaves in Portugal's second division, and when it ran out on June 1 he announced his exit with nothing lined up.
Fourteen days later he faced Spain, ranked second in the world, in Cape Verde's first ever World Cup match. Spain took 27 shots. He saved all seven on target. 0-0. At 40 years and 12 days he became the oldest player ever to appear in a nation's World Cup debut. Only Shilton and Zoff have kept a clean sheet at an older age.
He cried at the final whistle. The grandparents who raised him died before they could see any of it. His mother missed the match because the family couldn't get her visa processed in time. That detail traveled so far that Hakeem Jeffries personally asked the Secretary of State to intervene, and five days later she was in the stands in Miami watching her son hold Uruguay.
The 18 million followers have a mechanism behind them. Brazilian broadcaster CazéTV told its viewers to follow him during the Spain broadcast. 46K became 1 million within minutes of the whistle. Every save after that compounded it: a second clean sheet against Saudi Arabia, then eight stops against Argentina yesterday, including a Messi free kick, before falling 3-2 in extra time.
Cape Verde, population 525,000, went home without losing a single match in 90 minutes. Their keeper went home with 400x the followers he arrived with.
Nineteen years bought him one trophy. Eighteen days bought him everything else.
The Grayzone's Max Blumenthal visits the Wall of Tears in Dearborn, Michigan
This heart-rending visual display memorializes the over 18,500 children killed by the Israeli military in the besieged Gaza Strip between October 7, 2023 and July 2025
Blumenthal reads the names and ages of several of these children, and places their lives in the broader context of Gaza's occupation, siege and genocide at the hands of the state of Israel
Space X is not worth more than the entire West Africa. Space X’s worth is fabricated. The foundation of Elon’s Space X production chain is the Democratic Republic of Congo, which supplies 70% of the world’s critical minerals. This is exactly why the U.S. government (Elon’s sponsor) is interested in the DRC with a fake peace deal. It’s important to understand these things to avoid celebrating artificial trillionaires. Haba!
@netanyahu Calling your nascent state “Jewish” is a deliberate appropriation of Jewish identity that places Jews everywhere at risk. Israel does not speak for the Jewish people, and Zionism is not Judaism.
Israel is not our country.
The Iranian navy, which has been destroyed eight times, has apparently closed the Strait of Hormuz again, because the United States, for the seventh time, won the war that wasn’t a war, so now the United States has to open the Strait of Hormuz that was already open before the not-war began.
The not-war began because Iran had uranium that was totally, completely, beautifully obliterated, so they can’t build the nuclear bomb they weren’t building, which is why the United States had to start the not-war it definitely didn’t start.
Now the United States, which has nuclear weapons, is threatening to use nuclear weapons to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons, because nuclear weapons are far too dangerous for countries with nuclear weapons to allow other countries to have.
If the United States saw the United States doing what the United States does in other countries, the United States would invade the United States to liberate the United States from the tyranny of the United States.
Woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth. #ApostolicJourney#Cameroon https://t.co/bKteFZ3iWE
Elon, here's what you're missing or ignoring.
You call South Africa's DEI and Black Economic Empowerment laws "extremely racist." But you leave out a few critical facts.
1. Apartheid wasn't a neutral policy it was state-enforced racism.
For decades, the white minority (including your family) controlled over 80% of the land and nearly all the wealth. Black South Africans were forcibly removed from their homes, denied citizenship in their own country, and exploited for cheap labor. That's not ancient history it ended just 30 years ago.
2. Your own family directly benefited from that system.
You were born in Pretoria in 1971, at the height of apartheid. Your father, Errol Musk, has openly said apartheid was not racist and that Black people "shouldn't complain because they were fed." He has never condemned the regime he admired it.
3. Your grandfather, Joshua Haldeman, was a pro-Nazi activist.
He was arrested in Canada for supporting Hitler, then moved the family to South Africa precisely because apartheid offered a place where his racial ideology was welcomed. That's not speculation it's documented history.
4. Corrective policies like BEE are not "anti-white."
They are a modest attempt to return a fraction of what was stolen. Even today, white South Africans about 7-8% of the population still own the majority of private farmland and control most of the economy. Without these adjustments, the Black majority would be permanently locked out of their own land.
5. Here's the irony you refuse to see.
In a Black-majority country like South Africa, real DEI principles would actually protect the white minority from being overrun by majority rule. By calling these laws "racist" and pushing to remove them, you are arguing for a system where the Black majority could claim everything land, economy, rights with no guardrails.
That would be far more dangerous for white South Africans than BEE ever will be.
You left South Africa, became an American citizen, and now you lecture South Africans on fairness while your family's legacy is soaked in the very racism you claim to oppose.
If you truly believe in equal treatment for all races, start by acknowledging the history that made these laws necessary. And maybe have a conversation with your father about why he still defends apartheid.
🚨 OPEN LETTER TO VINICIUS JR
Dear Vini, it pains me to do this, but I just have to let you know the situation you’re in right now.
I may not have a cult following like you, but rest assured this public letter will be seen by a vast majority of Real Madrid fans worldwide.
I speak for all Madridistas when I say you’re 100% finished.
First of all, It’s sad to say it, but your 1 goal or 1 assist after every 20 games ever since you said you will do it 10X more, is not what we are paying you for.
YOU CAN’T SHOOT
YOU CAN’T PLAYMAKE ANYMORE
YOU DON’T MAKE GOOD RUNS
YOUR DRIBBLING IS BELOW PAR
YOUR BIG GAME MOMENTS ARE GONE
It’s been stinker after stinker, sometimes I think I’ve seen the stinkiest, but you surprise me with an even more stinkiest stinky performance.
You’ve been below average, pulling up Jesus Vallejo numbers ever since you made the 10x statement.
Secondly, It’s not just frustrating but very very annoying when you demanded a salary even Ronaldo couldn’t receive, it’s not like you even putting up his numbers.
The audacity.
THAT IS GREEDINESS
THAT IS INGRATITUDE
THAT IS NOT A SIGN OF SOMEONE WHO LOVES THE CLUB
Lastly, Your ego and pride has consumed you, you are a shadow of your personality.
We see through the fake smiles and hugs and handshakes.
If you don’t want to play for us anymore, kindly leave, so you don’t ruin your legacy.
8 years in Real Madrid is enough.
You’re not breaking Ronaldo or even Mbappe’s numbers. You’ve already done more than your capabilities.
Don’t be a burden.
Yours truly, @RmaDonyfc (signed)
We've reached the point where the coach publicly thanks a player for traveling and playing with the team. A professional football player thanked for doing his job.
That's how rotten the club's culture and that dressing room is.
Exactly, Perez has gone full cycle. Appears to focus more on generating more money and living the core sporting needs to suffer. One of the greatest if not the greatest RM president, but it’s about time.
Not happy Xabi Alonso left. It feels like the club has quietly accepted that some players are bigger than the coach—and even the club. That’s never a winning formula.
Honestly, it also feels like Pérez’s focus has drifted from football to money.
Perez has reached the end of his cycle. He should retire and step aside. He presided over Real Madrid’s greatest era, and he is now presiding over its decline. It is time for new leadership.
