After months of work, I’m proud to launch my new @figma plugin VariableScout.
Sometimes it’s easy to lose track of variables and nodes when working in Figma – I’ve been there myself. That’s why I built VariableScout: a plugin that helps you visualize, organize, and optimize your workflow.
https://t.co/3kXpjoCxEr
Some features I’m particularly excited about:
✅ Variable tracking: See all variables and their connections to nodes in your document
✅ Smart filtering: Filter variables by type (Color, Number, Text, Boolean) and nodes by category (Components, Instances, Frames, Text, Shapes)
✅ Search system: Quickly find specific variables, nodes, or collections
✅ Node selection: Select individual nodes, multiple nodes, or entire path segments directly from the plugin to the canvas
✅ Variable swapping: Easily swap variables across multiple selected nodes simultaneously
✅ Collection management: Organize and view variables from local and shared library collections
✅ View options: Focus on unused or selected variables, combine collections into a single view, hide hidden layers, or simplify variable paths for a clearer display
✅ Flexible exports (JSON/CSV) tailored to your needs
✅ Customizable settings: Save your preferred settings for future use
The plugin is currently in Open Beta, so it’s free to try while I gather feedback. I’d love for you to check it out and let me know how it works for you!
Germany is launching an alternative to Claude Code, it’s called Klaus Programmieren and it will run on sovereign ai system with chips made in Germany. The project is currently in the planning phase but the Federal Government has already committed a record sum of 50 Million Euros
1993 Audi Quattro H
The Audi Quattro H 1993 is a dystopian, retro-futuristic concept car designed by Federico Ciuffolini, reimagining 1990s endurance racing.
It features a unique 6-wheel design (4 rear wheels for traction) and a "Heckantrieb" (rear-wheel drive) configuration, designed to maximize aerodynamic efficiency and power-to-weight ratio with a Kevlar, fiberglass, and carbon fiber body.
Engine & Drivetrain: Diesel power unit with a unique 4-wheel rear-drive system.
Speed & Acceleration: Estimated top speed of 230 mph and 0–60 in approximately 3.2 seconds.
Design & Aerodynamics: Features a floating cockpit to reduce driver fatigue and a highly efficient, lightweight body designed for 24-hour endurance.
Concept Origin: Designed by Federico Ciuffolini to represent a "what if" scenario for Audi in 1993, featuring a 6-wheeled layout (4 driven rear wheels).

@figma Plugin API gap: we can discover library vars but there’s no way to load an existing ExtendedVariableCollection by collectionKey to read parent/root + variableOverrides. Could you add import/getVariableCollectionByKeyAsync (incl overrides)?
Rocket Bunny just revealed this R32 kit for the Suzuki Twin and it may be the best thing I’ve seen all year (🤪).
This is not AI, repeat NOT AI. I’m in love 🥰
@vanschneider Interesting because now it feels like we’re seeing the opposite. AI tools bringing designers back into code. At least for me it’s pretty much a design-to-code flow these days. Do you still code from time to time?
Hi Denise, thanks for getting in touch. I made a list of the main topics that came to my mind:
File Structure:
- Page-level access control (hide or lock specific pages within a file)
- Introduce nested pages for better file structure
Layout:
- Support true percentage-based sizing everywhere (width, height, padding, gaps, etc.)
- Allow wrapping rules such as “maximum 3 per row” for fixed or capped items
- Add vertical-first wrapping and equal-width masonry-style flows
Properties:
- Enable reordering of all property types freely
- Introduce conditional properties (e.g., show X when Y is true, or mutually exclusive booleans)
- Add number properties to control the number of duplicates generated (e.g., items = 5)
- Add slider controls for adjusting a value within a defined range
- Provide image and custom color pickers as component properties
- Show similar nested properties when multiple nodes are selected
Toolbar:
- Snap custom elements such as plugins and widgets to the toolbar
Handoff:
- Add “handoff collections” to share and organize selected elements for developers
- Allow hiding elements not ready for development in Dev Mode
Variables:
- Set variables as page backgrounds
- Extend variables to include all typography properties
- Allow variable opacity for alias variables
- Support ratio, math, or computed variables (for example: spacing * 2, font-size-base * 3)
- Enable searching and filtering within the “Selection Colors” panel
Prototyping:
- Fix stacked interactions so they animate correctly in prototypes
Text:
- Allow inline text highlights and the ability to place components inside a text run or wrap selected text in a frame without breaking the text block
General:
- Allow Admins to enforce two-factor authentication at the organization level
- Introduce a dedicated content editor seat type (or merge it into the Collaboration license)
- Support batch backups and downloads of local files
Other:
- Allow full 360° rotation for smoother animations
- Besides Stroke add Outline support
It’s great that @figma keeps rolling out new products like clockwork but could we please get some love for the actual UX/UI experience? There are still so many missing features and annoying bugs, most of them simple to fix. @zoink
Designing, building, learning, experimenting with AI every day. Still feels like I’m falling behind. Innovation is moving at lightspeed. 2025 is crazy.
@mymind Mostly UX/I and branding inspiration. The first few days using it instead my camera roll are very nice 👍 btw not sure if its a small UI bug or not but on the settings/account page „Your Mind Tags“ is a label instead of h2. Visually a bit uneven but might be intentional 😄
