🐎 GOOD NEWS: A nonprofit bought a cattle ranch in northwest Colorado to give wild horses somewhere to go. More than 230 live there now, most of them pulled out of federal holding pens after roundups in the Sand Wash Basin, 30 miles west.

It used to be the Rio Ro Mo Ranch, a working cattle and breeding operation. The Wild Animal Sanctuary bought it for around $13 million and has put millions more into fencing and infrastructure. It's roughly 30,000 acres, bigger than Manhattan, and it's one of the largest private wild horse reserves in the country.

Here's the part I really like: they hired three independent range specialists to assess forage, water, and carrying capacity using the same metrics a cattle operation would use. The answer came back at roughly 350 horses. So that's the ceiling, and they monitor it annually.

And there's no supplemental feed. The whole design principle is that the horses graze the way they did in the wild basin instead of standing around waiting for a feed truck.

That's the alternative to the current system, where the BLM manages roughly 82,000 wild horses and burros across ten western states and thousands of removed animals sit in holding facilities for months waiting to find a home.

Toñi, the oldest known orca in a critically endangered population, was spotted with what appear to be shotgun wounds.

Investigators now believe the 60-year-old orca was shot from a Spanish-flagged boat while she was in Portuguese waters.

They still don't know who pulled the trigger. Sea Shepherd France has offered a €10,000 reward for verifiable information that identifies the person or people responsible for shooting Toñi. Tips can be provided confidentially.

When the story first broke, authorities didn't know where she had been shot. Now, Spain's Environment Ministry says its preliminary investigation points to Portuguese waters and a Spanish vessel.

Cholesterol cannot clog an artery until something oxidises it first. They have known this since the 1980s.

Stop eating the oil and there is nothing left to burn.

The point is that a country of 90 million people has looked at the most powerful military and financial empire in human history, and said: no.

Said it for forty-seven years.

Said it under sanctions that would have broken most nations.

Said it while being threatened with annihilation on a weekly basis by countries with actual nuclear weapons.

The question this war is really asking is not whether Iran survives.

The question is whether any country is allowed to survive on its own terms.

That question belongs to all of us.
