"What we are dealing with when we deal with history is the deployment of energy. When those Europeans came out of their thawed-out icebox the first time, the Romans when they took over Carthage and North Africa making North Africa the breadbasket of the Roman Empire, were searching for energy: food, people, resources.
Without the energy of Africa, there would have been no Roman Empire. That second time, without the energy of Africa in the 15th and 16th centuries, there would have been no modern Western world."
Dr John Henrik Clarke, "Who Betrayed the African World Revolution?"
Colonialism has limited the minds of certain people to think that the only solutions for African people must be rooted in the colonial systems itself rather than looking into our own pre-colonial history to see what we built before colonialism.
The most useful political statement I have ever read was this simple quote from Chairman Mao: "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun".
Everything else is just a series of fantasies and illusions that people sell themselves so they can sleep well at night. Whatever style of government you pretend to have, it is always underwritten by men with guns, and its stability always ultimately comes down to what the men with guns choose to do.
Your "democracy" is a children's fairy tale you tell yourself to make the world more palatable - it is men with guns that enforce and implement decisions, and it is men with guns that will escort you into a police car, a courtroom or a prison if you choose not to obey whatever instruction you have received.
Your "theocracy" is a lie because God has no power to make you do anything without the men with guns making you carry out his will. Mecca and Jerusalem are the 2 allegedly holiest in the world, and they're both filled with men with guns, purportedly carrying out the will of God.
Every type of human society is held together by men with guns. A good society is one where the interests of the men with guns align with those of the people without guns, and a bad society is one where the men with guns live parasitically off the people without guns.
ALL societies are dictatorships of men who control the guns. Some just include a whole lot of extra steps to obfuscate that basic fact. I personally prefer the societies where the men with the guns do not hide their control and their interests align with those who do not have guns.
Growing up is realising that "democracy" is like Santa Claus. It's a story told for 5 year-olds to feel involved in the world's decision making. You didn't put Tinubu, Trump or Macron in power with your "vote" you fucking peasant.
2027 imebaki miezi 6 tu.
2016 ilikuwa miaka 10 iliyopita.
COVID ilianza zaidi ya miaka 6 iliyopita.
Waliozaliwa 1990 wamebakiza miaka 14 tu kutimiza miaka 50.
Na leo, 2007 iko mbali zaidi kuliko 2040.
Muda unakimbia.
Acha kusubiri. Anza sasa.

If we don’t come from a rich family, then a rich family must come from us. We may not inherit wealth, but we can build it and leave a legacy for generations.
Unachekea moyoni, ‘huyu naye!’
Kuna mtu akisafiri kwenda ng’ambo hawezi kunyamaza.
This is a good example of my point about actually studying the history of Asian countries before copying their models. Mao copied certain aspects of the Soviet model, but he was also confronted with the problem of China's feudal culture which was deeply entrenched due to thousands of years of tradition. He launched the Cultural Revolution in an effort to deal with the problem. This included attempting to eradicate Confucianism, which was the ideology which upheld and justified China's feudal system.
The Cultural Revolution had a particular purpose which was specific to China's culture and history. Modibo Keita's government in Mali attempted to copy the Cultural Revolution and it ended up being one of the reasons why his government was overthrown. Adaption only works if you know what you are adapting and why you're adapting it. The problem which Africa confronts is that many of our leaders don't know even have an effective grasp of African societies and cultures to effectively adapt foreign ideas.
First of all, education for transferring elite status is a colonial view of education. That's why the colonial state and institutions like IMF and World Bank keep telling African governments to reduce the availability of education. The elitism comes from scarcity of knowledge, not from the availability of knowledge. And that's because the colonial state uses knowledge for elite formation, when knowledge should instead be for work.
Two, specific questions about the budget are not critical, in my view. Being told that a public budget line is none of the citizen's business should be the first point of outrage. That's a political statement that is not acceptable. The details of where the money is going is really neither here nor there.
Three: one doesn't require of technical expertise like knowledge of budgeting to see misuse of public funds. Ordinary Kenyans see it for themselves when rich people donate millions at harambees and they can't afford healthcare and school fees.
