It's been nearly three years since it came out and the climax of Nimona still gets me every single time. Words cannot describe how much of a miracle it was that this film got released, how it is, and what it means to me. It's the film Blue Sky deserves to be remembered for.

Ini karena perbuatan yang lama2 menjadi kebiasaan yang lama2 menjadi budaya.

Gue inget waktu itu masih duduk di kelas 4 SD (long long time ago), ada PR kesenian bikin semacam “maket” ruang tamu. Temen2 gue pada dibikinin ortunya dengan hasil ya bagus2. Nyokap gue gak mau bantuin walhasil hasilnya jelek (krn gue gak jago bikin seni2 gitu). Yang menyakitkan adalah pas gue kumpulin hasilnya eh malah dilempar sama gurunya. Fuck kata gue teh, Traumatic experience yg menghasilkan 3 pilihan; lain kali gue usaha cari joki atau berusaha memperbaiki kemampuan, atau ya udahlah I’m done with seni2 kampret. Gue memilih yg ketiga.

Yang menjadi pertanyaan, kenapa si Guru menghukum gue yg berusaha sendiri meski hasilnya jelek dan menghargai hasil jokian orang lain? Gue yakin hal seperti ini banyak terjadi di tempay lain dalam waktu berbeda-beda, puluhan tahun lamanya.

Secara value, emang jadinya bangsa kita terbiasa untuk melihat hasil tanpa berusaha menghargai proses di baliknya. Hal yg sama terjadi di setiap kegiatan Pemilu dengan serangan fajarnya, Infrastruktur2 megah yg akhirnya banyak terbengkalai, para Politikus yg ngebet punya rentetan gelar, dan tentu saja contoh terbesar dan nyata, seorang Bapak ingin anaknya menjadi penguasa negeri.

I may be a bit late to give an opinion on this whole AI Ghibli artstyle thing but I’ll do it anyway. My stance remains the same: I don’t and WILL NEVER support any form of AI “art”. It’s surely a cool tool to have but I’ll never be able to go be cool about it with how it is rn.

However, my concern resides in what it means for artists living it out from the industry. I think there’ll be more cases of artists getting replaced especially in the freelance side of things. So, I think that putting ourselves out for the world to see just gets more crucial.
