The book glorifies Sultana Razia to the fullest. & There is no mention of any social evils of Islam in the paragraph. Sultana Razia comes out as a heroine of very progressive Islamic religion.

On the other hand, Meerabai is shown as oppressed, had to face evils of hindu society, her guru was dalit (this term didn't even exist at the time btw).

Reality?
-Razziya Sultan actually faced many hurdles from muslims, infact the powerful Turkic nobles (Turkan-i-Chehalgani or the Forty Amirs) & Muslim elite vehemently refused to accept a woman as their sovereign.
-Historical evidences show that prime minister (wazir)- Nizamul Mulk Muhammad Junaidi, along with several prominent Turkic provincial governors (including Malik Alauddin Jani & Malik Saifuddin Kuchi), refused to accept her and marched armies against Delhi.

But the NIOS text book doesn't mention any of these.

However, when it comes to Bhakti tradition & Meerabai, the textbook acquires a completely different tone.
Everything is linked to caste, Sati, patriarchy oppression of women. The book says Bhakti tradition led to the emergence of lower castes & women saints. However, this is totally contrary to the truth.
Much before the Bhakti tradition, saints emerged from across all varnas.
-Two greatest saints- Veda Vyasa & Valmiki are from the so-called lower castes.
-At least 27 women seers (Rishikas or Brahmavadinis), including Ghosha, Lopamudra, Gargi, and Maitreyi, are explicitly credited with composing sacred hymns & philosophical debates in the Vedas and Upanishads.

But the NIOS text book completely hides these obvious facts.

Thus the text book cunningly uses Meerabai for it's propaganda. Everything about Meerabai is about oppression, ill-treatment from her relatives & Rajputs.
The book says she accepted Sant Ravidas who was a Dalit as her Guru.
The term "Dalit" did not even exist during Meerabai's time & he had devotees from all sections.

The question also arises as to why the book goes into the identity like Meerabhai was a Rajput & Sant Ravidas is a Dalit, while it did not go into the details of whether Sultana Razia was a Shia or a Sunni or a Syed or a Ansari.

The book did not want Meerabai to be recognized for her gifted skills as it says that Meerabai's poems are not scholarly but only of emotions. The book's objective is to depict Meerabai as oppressed with no talent.
The book says that Meerabai wrote many poems on the ill-treatment she received from her husband while historical accounts say that Prince Bhoj Raj and she had a loving relationship.

When it comes to Meerabai, the text book use many non-definitive terms like "it is believed", "may not be", "seems to have" etc
but when it comes to Sultana Razia, everything about her was definitive, clear.

Why is social identity and oppression foregrounded when discussing Meerabai and Bhakti, but comparable religious and social context is largely absent when discussing Razia Sultan?

Because the book want the Hindu girls to associate Islam with Women's rise to power while Hinduism with caste, patriarchy & oppression.

Any commonsensical person can understand the impact that the above paragraphs would have on Hindu girls 15-16 year old Hindu girls.
It would clearly establish in their minds that Islam is a progressive religion which supports women to rise up while Hinduism, Hindu men, Hindu customs are oppressive which do not allow equal status to women.

Won't such books act as a means to brainwash young children, esp young Hindu girls to hate their religion & culture??

Wonder who wrote such books, how it escaped scrutiny and why it's is still allowed to continue.
