It's ironic that you post this whilst enjoying your May Day bank holiday; which celebrates International Workers' Day and the long campaign by trade unionists for better working conditions.
So, enjoy your holiday and raise a glass to those 'militant' unions and all they've won!

This is Hossam’s team, and we are sharing his final message :
“If you’re reading this, it means I have been killed—most likely targeted—by the Israeli occupation forces. When this all began, I was only 21 years old—a college student with dreams like anyone else. For past 18 months, I have dedicated every moment of my life to my people. I documented the horrors in northern Gaza minute by minute, determined to show the world the truth they tried to bury. I slept on pavements, in schools, in tents—anywhere I could. Each day was a battle for survival. I endured hunger for months, yet I never left my people’s side.
By God, I fulfilled my duty as a journalist. I risked everything to report the truth, and now, I am finally at rest—something I haven’t known in the past 18 months . I did all this because I believe in the Palestinian cause. I believe this land is ours, and it has been the highest honor of my life to die defending it and serving its people.
I ask you now: do not stop speaking about Gaza. Do not let the world look away. Keep fighting, keep telling our stories—until Palestine is free.”
— For the last time, Hossam Shabat, from northern Gaza.
The man leading regime change in Syria calls serving al-Qaeda/ISIS (the US) a phase and the media, including CNN & Al Jazeera, are rolling with it.
This is a moment to celebrate the fall of one of the most brutal regimes of modern times. Many of my Syrian colleagues are in tears of joy. The challenge now is to manage a successful transition. Too many Arab countries have spiraled into chaos after the fall of a tyrant. 1/14
In this historical day, we remember Syrian Christian martyr Bassel Shehadeh who left his scholarship in the USA to return to Damascus and support the #Syria uprising.
Anti-revolution dummies are spreading lies that Syrian Christians are under threat. There is a misunderstanding that the revolution is composed of a homogeneous muslim armed opposition. This is a misconception. The revolution is supported by all Syrians regardless of religion and ethnicity. Do not impose your Western mindset which perceives minorities in the West as a threat on a Syrian nation that perceives minorities as the apple of its eyes.
Christians were also victims of Assad oppression. I cannot forget Bassel Shehadeh. Bassel Shehadeh (Arabic: باسل شحادة) (January 31, 1984 – May 28, 2012) was a Syrian Christian film maker, producer, IT Engineer, environmental and cultural activist, and a well-known civil activist during the Syrian uprising in 2011 to 2012. He was a pioneer in organising peaceful protests in Damascus denouncing the government’s crackdown of the Arab Spring. Shehadeh was arrested while protesting with fellow artists in the al-Midan neighbourhood of Damascus. His camera captured and documented the assaults and bombardments conducted by the Syrian regime's forces on the city of Homs. He was killed during a government assault in the neighbourhood of al-Safsafa in Homs.

As an Iranian woman, I reject Western states & liberals who coopt us 2 promote notions of feminism revolving exclusively around bodily autonomy & excluding socio-economic rights, & who promote us while actively murdering our sisters in Palestine & Lebanon https://t.co/rmPUrKXQD1
Conspiracy theorists who keep saying there’s “no way” the hurricane could have intensified so much without some human cause are so close to getting it.
they killed three people, set off a grenade on one of their bodies, threw the three of them off a rooftop & carried their dead bodies around in a bulldozer around the town for about an hour https://t.co/X0AepwDS00
⏳ Well it has to be the Climate and Nature Bill, @labourlewis, surely?! We championed this crucial Bill together in the last Parliament—and you now have a golden opportunity to finally lock the #CANBill into law @ChrisGPackham https://t.co/wQvHcZgWpi
