This magnificent poem by Todd Dillard is easily one of my favorite poems of all time. What a masterclass in line-breaks and meaning-making! Also a brilliant balancing act of abstractions and concrete specific imagery. Just read this with class — I had perfect attendance and it was a perfect class. The students were thrilled and had so much to say. Feels really good to see a bunch of 18-year-olds get so excited about poetry.
People have weird misconceptions of poetry bc they always think my favorite line is gonna be some 18th century soliloquy about snow when in reality it’s Frank O’Hara writing “ah lunch! I think I am going crazy” in his Great poem about eating lunch and going crazy
“so I slowly whisper I love you / thirty-two and a third times."

Domhnall Gleeson gives a speech at Rachel McAdams' Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony: “Rachel, I don’t think you deserve this. Life has taught me that you’re not supposed to have it all. It’s not fair to be everyone’s favorite person on set and the best actor in the room.”
“On the way off the stage, I tried to fist-bump Bernie Sanders, which maybe confused him, but he said that I did a good job."
— Lucy Dacus on performing at Zohran Mamdani’s inauguration for @RollingStone
Zohran went to look at bad landlord apartments immediately. Can you imagine Eric Adams looking at your crumbling ceiling. Hitting you with the “Don’t let the leaky ceiling of problems be the roof of the home of your goals”
