Save Malvern Hills College / Malvern School of Art
@saveMHC
WCG has announced the closure of the amazing 100yr old Malvern School of Art with the intention to sell for development. 100's of students are affected. Help!
A peaceful protest was held in support of the campaign to mark end of term and appalling potential permanent closure of this historic, unique place. @hbaldwin attended and spoke to the 120+ crowd, assuring of cross party support. #malvernhills#worcestershirehour@Public_Campaign
@OllyPottsArts @hbaldwin The college meant so much to so many people and had a huge opportunity if run by people closer to the area and in a more dynamic way. Let's hope something can still be done - criminal otherwise.
@GillianKeegan@ClaireCoutinho Perhaps start by blocking any sale of Malvern Hills College by WCG! Our college provided a vital lifeline to children and young people (as well as adults) improving mental well-being. Now the 1300+ students have no where to go #savemalvernhillscollege@hbaldwin
@hbaldwin@WCollegeGroup@MalvernHills_DC Disappointing & not surprising from a company who clearly doesn't give a toss about education, just about asset stripping from Worcestershire communities to bail out their poorly run business and huge CEO / CFO salaries. Financial investigation needed into WCG
#CorporateGreed#AssetStripping. Buy a college to access FE money, ignoring the student demography, fail to invest in the community (time, marketing), watch it flounder. Close it, ready the lawyers. They've done it

@FEWeek WCG had the college (for free) for just over 4 years. The ESFA was responsible funding less than circa 5% enrolments. Wait lists were in operation for self-funded courses. The effect of closure is catastrophic for many in the local community. Lifelong learning matters!pls support
Thanks @feweek for highlighting this. WCG had the college (for free) for just over 4 yrs before closure notice. Waiting lists for self-funded (as no Gov cash available) courses were in operation and enrolements (1300+per year) growing. https://t.co/6d5bazbRWd #EducationForAll
