The daily scene on our Green! Everyone knows the reasons humans NEED space like this in built up areas. It’s unfathomable that @ManCityCouncil are ploughing ahead with plans to build over it. Who at the Council is going to stand up an be counted on this?
New Islington Green: Many residents have expressed anger and frustration to me over the years at Labour's decision to sell off our green space.

@rrrichy@jmadge33 They've removed all the bushes 😢 I'm sure there's a few rumours in the mill, but whatever the reason, it wasn't construction and it certainly wasn't aesthetic!

40 trees and 150,000 sq ft of grass providing space that's crucial to the wellbeing of thousands of residents.
@ManCityCouncil & @GeneralProjects are going to build on it. Email them; [email protected] to request updates on their plans.
@JenWilliamsMEN Good article @JenWilliamsMEN. What thoughts are there as to the Council's motive for halting democracy to rush these through? No one is buying the technology line, so it certainly smells off. Who stands to gain from this; the city, developers, individuals?

Fascinating New Islington twitter exhibition @Len_Grant. The shot below is the future site of our Green and the neighbourhood we love. Not without its loss (the Dispensary for one), but a community in the making. Let's hope @ManCityCouncil remember we need space to breath too!
After lots of residents contacted me about rubbish in Cavendish Road Park in West #Didsbury pleased that @MCCDidsbury and @KeepBritainTidy have responded and will be providing bags for people to put rubbish in and take away with them. Starting next weekend. ♻️
@MajidDarAB Thank you Majid. We remember your firm opposition to the CRP car park. We love our neighbourhood and are just looking for creative, common sense planning decisions that will allow us to thrive. Building over all our recreational spaces is not that. Your support is crucial to us.
Well that’s it folks, not one word from a Labour councillor 🤐
4000+ petition signatures
300+ consultation responses
99% resident opposition
..and yet those elected to represent us have nothing to say on plans to reduce the green space essential to our wellbeing. Such a shame.
The lock-down has certainly made us all value local green spaces much, much more and shown that we should treasure and look after what we have better. Whether it’s parks, green spaces, waterways or walking and cycle paths, we must preserve and develop them coming out of this.
