Today I talked with @GarlandNixon about the steady move towards totalitarianism in Europe. What does it mean that communism is being equated with ‘nazism’ and banned? What does it mean that civil disobedience and political dissent are labelled ‘terrorism’ and criminalised?

We talked about the root causes of the attack on workers everywhere – the global capitalist crisis of overproduction and the desperate drive of the financiers for ever deeper austerity and ever more aggressive war as they try to balance their books and bring back profitability.

Our governments are targeting relatively small sections of the population with repression at the moment, and many people are turning a blind eye. Too many of us have not understood that these measures are aimed at the whole working class – they are aimed at preventing us from organising in our own interests and gaining real freedom.

The blood price demanded by this dying system in order to try to stabilise itself and bring about a ‘reset’ is enormous. Are we prepared to pay with our lives just so our exploiters can continue to rule the world?
