Non-SBMM ends up the same. There might be more of a tail, but you'd end up playing the exact same players. Only those are the only people playing, because pretty much nobody likes to get stomped all the time.
This whole SBMM discussion reminds me of people reminiscing about open world PvP. "We had so much fun ganking n00bs! Those were the good ol' days..." Yeah, then the n00bs stopped playing because they hated getting ganked all the time.
The reason that feeling hasn't been recaptured isn't because the games have changed, the players have. We could make the modern version of that and no one would play it. The only people to grief would be other griefers.
@maxnichols I, personally, think GaaS as a term is a bit passé. "Live Service Games," is more in vogue. I think it connotes slightly differently, with a focus live updates and an online ecosystem. A game doesn't technically have to receive updates to be GaaS-y. :P
@maxnichols XD I say "traditional" or "boxed product," but I see you already addressed that. The moniker specifically refers to the business model, not the product itself.
Technically the correct answer is Games-as-a-Product as the thing that GaaS are specifically different from.
@ChadJessup I pretty much always keep a mask on me. I've got a few different internal meters (indoor-outdoor, circulation, cleanliness, crowdedness, strangers-friends, vibe?) and if they collectively get too high I'll throw on a mask or avoid entirely.
XD @MARVELSNAP Omg to #AgathaHarkness playing the game for you. WTF! Someone who has her for real has to tell me how high rank an Agatha deck gets them.
@JoshKulinski My honest opinion, finding a good real estate agent cannot be overstated. Having gone through it twice now, the difference between a great and not so much real estate agent is night and day. Shop for that first and the rest will follow.
L-Theanine (the "calming" chemical in Chamomile) is so magical. I don't know if I've just always been coping with way worse chronic anxiety than I thought, but I envy anyone who can achieve this level of chill naturally, and I wonder why they don't just add it to everything.
@tomabernathy Definitely read this more as "*Black Olives and I* will not be taking questions," as if your scandalous affair with Black Olives had just been leaked and you were being hounded by journalists and paparazzi. (Before I read the QT of course). I wish you and Black Olives the best!
@WhatTheADHD What's that ADHD thing where you touch something that your brain has registered as "dirty" and can't focus on anything else until you wash or sanitize your hands.
@Cute_Idiot Yup. Rapid blood pressure drop. Dizziness, vision goes dark, head rush. Recovery after a few seconds or after sitting back down. Don't panic, but do mention next time you see your doctor. There could be a treatable underlying condition. Good luck!
@DieHardDragoon Masocore games aren't good because they're hard. They're good because they're good. Their difficulty just allows fans to dismiss minor criticisms and balance issues with "git gud". Making them easier and more accessible doesn't make them worse. That's just a "fan" pathos.
She Hulk's war on misogynist bullshit was wonderful. Can I highlight a subtler thing with Pug? Just existing as a side character, but defying all expectations of toxic masculinity. Just existing as a decent guy. Maybe has a crush, but it doesn't consume him. A good friend.
