Let’s be factual. There IS a warrant of arrest for Bato de la Rosa. It’s from the International Criminal Court (ICC). There IS a domestic law (RA 9851) that allows local authorities to enforce the warrant and surrender Bato to the ICC. On top of that, the SC had ruled that even if the PH govt withdrew from the ICC in 2019, we remain obligated to cooperate on cases involving incidents prior to the withdrawal.

The NBI and PNP had every right to arrest Bato and the Senate was wrong in coddling him and facilitating his escape.

With Super Typhoon Uwan, we know we will have to extend again, to places already exhausted, to families who have lost too much, too soon.

Ang hirap minsan magdesisyon lalo na kung relief operations. Where to send food first. Which island needs water the most. Whose homes we can help rebuild, and whose we must ask to wait. Even with all the help coming in, hindi ito magiging sapat dahil ang lawak ng sakuna at ang daming kailangan tulungan.

Hindi tayo dapat ganito palagi. Corruption kills long before the storm does. Every peso stolen is a home left unbuilt, a bridge left weak, a family left unprotected. We keep rebuilding what corruption keeps breaking, and the storm only finishes what greed began. The deeper betrayal is how this greed has left our people so vulnerable.

We cannot keep calling these “acts of God” when so much of this suffering is man-made.

Angat Buhay will continue to do what it can to bring help and hope, but we must also demand better, because our people deserve more than survival.

Broadcast journalist Karmina Constantino held public officials accountable for the massive loss of life caused by Typhoon Tino, which left at least 188 people dead and 135 others missing, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, November 7, Constantino condemned those in government who, she said, failed in their duty to protect the public amid the deadly storm.

"The Office of Civil Defense reports at least 188 killed due to Typhoon Tino, 135 remain missing," she wrote. "To all those who should've been responsible for looking after the welfare of our people, but chose not to — THIS IS ALL ON YOU."

Too high a death toll for a country that supposedly learned its lesson already after Yolanda. How we endure all these on our own while keeping local dynasties in power who even profit from our misery is really self-inflicted wound. We need a national wave of green leaders to take over our local and national government.
