“Omnipresent Leaders aren’t afraid to be lonely. On the contrary, they are present everywhere as their ideals, values and directions guide their staff’s every decision”
My latest article on effective #leadership while #remoteworking#WFH#virtualteams#hr

The #leadership models we teach don’t work or isn’t preferred because of one of the following:
A. We don’t practice what we preach.
B. The model is outdated, as definition of words & ethics keep changing.
C. We don’t really understand, where the follower wants to go.

This week's #LDInsight question is...
Why do we spend time emphasising the development of 'positive' leadership behaviours - when others do the absolute opposite and are able to become world leaders?
@niallgavinuk@LnDConnect Yes, this was the best tweeter chat I enjoyed in a while. The question was very practical and much needed in a troubled world, which is confused in everything, right about every definition.
Hopefully, through these conversations,I hope we at L&D first get some clarity !

@ZahraCJ@LnDConnect That’s your perspective and not the 80M who believe #Trump was the best US president ever.
Let’s get back to L&D. We have a terrible disease which makes us unproductive—PRIDE & PREJUDICE
We think we know it all, when Google can easily dislodge us in a jiffy !
#LDinsight#trust
@familyhrguru @Barrass_Banks @PiersAnsell The words “consensus,” “success,” “good,” “bad,” “challenge” who decides the definition for all these?
Unless L&D gets a grip over these smentic gaps and understands the world around it better, we might very well sound like an empty gong.
#ldinsight
@ZahraCJ@LnDConnect We don’t really understand #Leadership, if we don’t really take time to understand our followers and what they want.
Yes, they may want to go to Hell. But talking more about Heaven than Hell shows how much unprepared & untrustworthy the #Leader is.
#LDinsight#trust
@snowarriors_lou Bad [world] leaders go where the followers go. It’s an oxymoron in #Leadership !
So,no amount of right leadership programs are going to work, unless we create a culture which can foresee the end
In short,we need #leaders who can walk backwards towards their followers
#ldinsight
@MikeShawLD It’s not that results justify behaviours. It is what people want—management or employee.
The problem with our #leadership model is we sell a product which nobody wants.
Yes,I may be discarding cherished values. But tell who cares for those in a “dog eat dog” culture?
#ldinsight
@OD_optimist This assumes the #leader isn’t powerful or influential enough to change either the destiny of their followers or the course of history by creating more leaders.
Then what kinda #leadership are we talking about? Just setting directions and then let the bull run amok?
#LDinsight
@Catherine_Lamb To become self-confident, one needs to consider:
1. Mindset (open & growth)
2. Words (positive & forward looking)
3. Body Language (power postures)
4. Making peace with your past
5. Being self-aware and being OK with it
This is far from saying “I am confident, I am confident!”😁
Geez, which successful person has an hour to listen to praise?
On the contrary, there are many who long for a word of encouragement. They need to know they haven’t failed, unless they haven’t yet tried again.
And importantly, this advice needs to be repeated !
#Leadership#Help
@LeadToday@kerrywekelo@LollyDaskal In times of #crisis, people listen more to body language than the spoken word.
A good #leader would stay calm, signal to hear from others and look for solutions outside his usual boundaries.
In short, people follow leaders who display #humility than theatrics.

@FeedbackDave It’s nothing terrible about trying to stay curious and not reading vis-vis reading and not reflecting.
As Kafka rightly observes, “a book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us.”
And if a book cannot evoke or provoke our thoughts then it isn’t worth reading !

The Death of Expertise by Tom Nichols was a fascinating read.
Realised how people, irrespective of party affliation, don’t believe any news feed,as contradictory expert opinions created more damage to #trust
Makes me wonder whether L&D too was caught in the crossfire?#LDinsight
@GracePlaton @wallybock And don’t rush through reading through this beautiful article please!
I think we have become a generation which has been caught short of change, real friends, real learning, real happiness, real rest & real long trousers !!
