Avg. US advisor blows +$9k/yr on hacks & still miss the #1 referral killer: Delay. Netflix, Uber killed delay. AskMyAdvisor® kills it. No delay changes the game
@SahilBloom “The good old days are happening right now.” Deep down I’ve had this idea in my mind but haven’t confronted it.
This post is important. I’m sharing with my 3 kids and wife. Thank you @SahilBloom
This is a clear big picture frame to consider as this ai economy plays out.
Since cavemen days to June 14, 2026… New technology splits the optimists (creators/builders on the field playing, taking the risks) vs pessimists (people in the stands, perpetual complainers, who offer no fix).
The latter provide low to no value at best. Saying ai is going to replace all jobs blah blah blah is a 0 effort reply. Provides nothing. Yet, that mindset can be a cancer that delays great things from happening. Steer clear of the sheep.
From introduction of the wheel to ai, we always adopt.
Stop asking for referrals.
Seriously. Stop.
Here is what to do instead:
Make it stupidly easy to ask you a question.
Because referrals do not start with referrals.
They start with a question.
"Hey, I need a good CPA. Who's your guy?"
"My friend needs your attorney, what's her name?"
"Who handles your money?"
That is the moment.
That is the only moment.
And here is what happens 80% of the time:
Your client thinks of you.
Then thinks, "wait, what is the easiest way to send this?"
Then they pause.
Then they get a Slack ping.
Then the moment dies.
Delay is the killer of referrals.
The fix is ONE direct path.
Not "call me, email me, or visit my site."
ONE.
Our advisors use AdvisorOneLink™.
Some use a private voicemail.
Some use a single QR on their email signature.
The shape does not matter.
The ONE-ness does.
Quick gut check:
If a client wanted to refer you RIGHT NOW, how many options would they have to pick from?
If the answer is more than one, you are leaking 80% of your referrals.
Fix it this week.
Then watch what happens in 30 days.
Better yet, next 10 days.

@ihteshamali Post comments are the easy tell.
What tell?
Who the sheep 🐑 are (people in the stands with all the answers) vs people on the field (the doers). It never fails. The better the content, the clearer the tell.
