🚨 MSCI is killing entire countries stock markets.
Turkey's stock market has crashed 23% since MSCI issued its first warning in June, saying it could review Turkey's market status.
Indonesia's stock market also crashed 18% in just 3 days after MSCI warned it could cut the country from emerging market status.
On Oct 15, MSCI froze changes to its Turkey indexes.
For now it will not add new Turkish stocks or raise the weight of existing ones, which limits new foreign index buying.
MSCI also warned it could cut Turkey from emerging market to frontier or standalone status if there is no progress by June 2027.
The trigger is a fund scandal.
On Sept 17, Turkey's regulator ordered the liquidation of 131 funds, after prosecutors began investigating manipulation of thinly traded stocks through these funds.

Thoughts or comments? Let me know
Government sold a loss-making PSU for Rs.769 crore. The 29% it still owns is now worth Rs.62,000 crore.
Hindustan Zinc was transferred with management control to Vedanta two decades ago. The residual stake alone has already paid more in dividends than the entire sale proceeds.
The company is now the world’s largest integrated zinc producer.
Zinc output is up over 4x. Silver is up 15x. Imports have been replaced, exports are generating foreign exchange, and taxes plus royalties have run into thousands of crores.
ICICI was privatised and is valued near Rs.9.88 lakh crore. IDBI stayed public, needed repeated capital, and is valued around Rs.90,000 crore.
With the IDBI Bank majority stake sale now approved, the residual holding is the real variable. Private execution plus a minority government stake is what turned Hindustan Zinc into long-term national value.
The numbers leave little room for the old “family jewels” argument.
Zee Business Exclusive:
RBI Proposes Gold ETF Overhaul to Curb Gold Imports
RBI suggests Gold ETFs invest in tradable gold receipts instead of physical gold.
Proposal to replace existing schemes with new Gold ETF schemes.
RBI to import and hold gold to meet redemption demand.
Gold receipt redemption to be settled in Indian rupees.
Proposal may ease forex pressure while offering gold-linked returns.
Capital gains on gold receipts may be taxed at the individual investor level.
Finance Ministry, RBI and SEBI did not respond to Zee Business emails seeking comments. @SEBI_updates@RBI@FinMinIndia@nsitharamanoffc@aijgf4india@IBJA1919
Now the Gold ETF you buy will not be backed by physical gold. It’s a promise to pay by RBI. Just like the recent FCNR deposits. Net short Dollar position of RBI is now $200 BN plus. So much to manage rupee. India needs real capital reforms! They’re doing everything but that !
Following the Feds
RBI too has increased the interest rates
CRR reserves are also ordered to be around 99%
Following this there will be Margin contraction for Banks and NBFC
So the stocks of banks and NBFC sector from here on will face pressure!
