Today Geoff Berriman gave Ambassador Strømmen a painting of a spitfire. The artist Charles O’Neill and his wife Susan also attended the ceremony. The painting symbolizes individual bravery and determination. It also represents the friendship between our countries, then and now.
On Shetland our valued friends Charles Grant (Chair, Shetland Bus Friendship Society), Rev. Magnus Williamson and Bill Moore (SBFS committee) laid a wreath on the Shetland Bus Memorial in Scalloway which commemorates the 44 men lost in the Shetland Bus Operation.#VEDay#VEDay2021

Interesting to see a Shetland perspective on the rise of Hull's fishing fleets at Scalloway Museum. Naturally, it made me think of my great colleague @Robb_Robinson
Love the design of this memorial and the story it represents.

Gripping and harrowing film 12th Man at @MareelShetland. Story of Jan Baalsrud, part of a sabotage mission to occupied Norway 1943. Escaping through mountains, snow in late winter.
Where did he set out from? Scalloway, on '#Shetland Bus'. Lots to see @ScallowayMuseum.
