drew playing the middle nearly the whole time, having a showmance/flirtmance, no unbalanced advantages and not one solid ally until melody at f6… genuinely impressive gameplay to have made it this far. He worked hard for it and was arguably the most active of the szn #bb28
Not adapting a specific game and dropping the legacy characters might actually be the best thing that happened to this franchise.
Every previous Resident Evil movie tried to cram in characters, mythology and fan-service, and most of them ended up being a mess. Cregger was way more interested in making you feel what it’s actually like to play Resident Evil, being confused, underprepared, scared and constantly wondering what the hell is around the next corner.
and that’s why I think cregger's story works so well. he's not trying to explain every piece of Umbrella lore or spend half the movie explaining the T-virus. It’s literally just one guy trying to survive and get somewhere while monsters keep making his life hell. Maybe Resident Evil never needed to be a perfect adaptation of the games. Maybe it just needed to make you feel like you’re playing one.
calling taylor a great player just because people went home beside her is crazy. they weren’t choosing her over everyone else, she just wasn’t the target. surviving because you did nothing all game isn’t the same as outplaying anyone. #bb28
