@CameronYardeJnr They're literally in every single junction, and every single link on Radio 2, been all over the social media accounts of every local station for weeks too
@SkillageSteve I had a thing about Scooter the Muppet (probably the lack of eyes) as he usually appeared in the cold open of The Muppet Show I got wary of the ATV logo.... which wasn't helped by Crossroads
@SkillageSteve The Crossroads Fire. I remember seeing the shot of the reception area alight and being absolutely terrified of it. I remember hiding upstairs when the next episode came on, and only came down when my parents assured me that it wasn't still happening in it.
@ElizabethHaggis @theAliceRoberts@tiinaligema So you did extra long school days so you could fit in all the RE? Which 'other viewpoints' did the nuns teach you. Convent school. They're not exactly known for their liberalism
(although some of the most wayward of my peers as a student were catholic educated!)
@ElizabethHaggis @tiinaligema@theAliceRoberts Well then what was the point of all the time spent on the religious bits? If no one took any notice of it isn't it better using that time for learning useful stuff?
@ElizabethHaggis @theAliceRoberts That's probably less common, especially as non faith schools can't be selective.
Until recently councils would provide (pay for) transport to faith schools if they weren't nearby. Thankfully most councils have come to their senses with that and ended it
@ElizabethHaggis @theAliceRoberts What if you don't want a faith school and have no choice. When my eldest son started school we didn't. There's 4 schools in our town, 3 are faith schools, we're not in catchment for the other
@SimpkinsIan@theAliceRoberts Kind of, they were built a good few years ago so I think there was just a demographic blip. Now all 4 schools are undersubscribed as the birth-rate has lowered..... so a good thing they didn't build an extra school
@SimpkinsIan@theAliceRoberts Round here there is really no choice. Small market town, 4 primaries - two CofE, one Catholic, one normal. The latter was massively over subscribed the year we were looking for schools (mainly because of its closeness to a housing development).
