Things I wish I could tell my past self as they came out, a thread:
1. People will leave. They didn't befriend this new person any more than you would your old self. It's not personal.
2. Take bold steps. You'll ruminate on doubt. That will metastasize into auto-transphobia.
The success or failure of Coyote vs ACME is something that film studios are going to keep a very close eye on.
If it succeeds, studios will be hesitant to shelve movies going forward and could try to find audiences for all of them.
But if it fails, studios will almost never listen to those vocal campaigns ever again.
There is a lot riding on this film and everyone who campaigned for this movie to be released better show up and show out.
Careful! Can't remind the "real Star Trek fans" on this platform form what real Star Trek is and is meant to be. They get angry and abusive - - especially when you block them for being angry and abusive! @jondelarroz , for example, has no understanding of Gene Roddenberry's vision.
Ryan Gosling says it's not on moviegoers to save movie theaters. That responsibility falls to the Hollywood studios.
āSix years ago, I got the manuscript [ for 'Project Hail Mary'], the most ambitious thing Iāll ever make; it seemed impossible. It was too good not to give it a shot. Six years later, we did it. Here we are, weāre all back in theaters. Itās not your job to keep them open, itās our job to make things that make it worth you coming out.ā

Hayden Christensen on the concept of free will and āthe brilliance of George Lucasā in depicting Anakinās fall to the dark side.
āAs Iāve gotten older, I find myself thinking about: does free will really exist? I question how real free will is, especially when you consider how weāre all sort of products of a set of circumstances that we had no control over. Youāre more compassionate toward people that have done things that arenāt the right thing to do. Thatās the brilliance of George Lucas in the prequels - he humanized the character of Darth Vader and hopefully made his fall to the dark side something that we can understand and relate to. But generally, compassion toward people who you are not necessarily siding with is a very cool thing.ā

During the first airing of my Star Trek series where a kiss was objectionable; many southern stations pulled the episode & condemned the show. Using todayās vernacular it would absolutely be calledāwoke DEI crapābecause it went against ānormsā of society for its time. Not a lot seems to have changed.š¤·š¼š
Garbageās Shirley Manson explained why the band is scaling back touring based on the economics of their most recent North American run.
āWe did the maths. I think this is a fascinating statistic: we played about 40 shows in North America... we could have earned exactly the same amount from the entire tour if weād only played 10 shows. That would have been approximately five shows on the East Coast, and five shows on the West [Coast].
āSo we would have earned the same amount [from] 10 shows as 40. Let that sink in. I donāt think the world has yet fully grasped how insane the economics are.ā https://t.co/vfZtDoryUc
As you may have heard, āThe Thingā has been added to the Library of Congress. We made the movie to push against the edges of what we could pull off, and it carries that strain in its bones. Seeing it now treated with the same care and reverence we had making it means a great deal to me and everyone who brought it to life.
I especially want to remember TK Carter, who brought heart and humor into that desolate, frozen place and should be standing here with us today sharing in this recognition.Ā
Thank you to everyone who continues to keep it alive.
Guillermo del Toro says he isn't involved with the DCU, but contacts James Gunn from time to time and loved 'Superman'
"Now and then, I write him about something else he's doing right. I think he's remarkably smart. I loved 'Superman'. I really enjoy the way he's viewing the universe.. when I see James Gunn's Superman, you feel the healing power of goodness from someone that believes in it"

James Cameron reveals he almost directed āJURASSIC PARKā before Steven Spielberg took the job.
āHe was the right guy to make it. Not me, because I would have made it too terrifying and R-rated. It would have been Aliens with dinosaursā

One of the few upsides of 2025 is that ā suddenly ā nobody calls my culture and political takes over the top anymore. Suddenly, it's almost like I'm a moderate again. Funny.
