RBI has rejected Tata Sons’ application to exit core investment company category, making public listing mandatory.

The decision comes after Tata Sons missed the Sept 2025 deadline for listing & amid a leadership tussle at the Tata group after Noel Tata, reportedly, plotting not to give extention to N Chandrasekaran.

BUT LARGER QUESTION REMAINS!

Tata Sons wants to retain its private/unlisted status despite being classified as an Upper-Layer NBFC.

SO LEGITIMATE QUESTION IS-

Why an entity of this size & its interconnected position wants to remain outside the TRANSPARENCY & SHAREHOLDER SCRUTINY that a public listing would bring?

And there is another interesting angle:

Tata Trusts owns about 66% and prefers Tata Sons to remain private, while Shapoorji Pallonji Group, with about 18.3%, favours listing. So this isn't simply "Tata vs RBI"; there are also competing shareholder interests inside Tata Sons.

👉RBI isn't saying Tata can't own its businesses; it's saying a ₹2-lakh-crore-plus, highly interconnected holding company cannot simply choose privacy when the regulatory framework considers it systemically important.

Meantime, hearing that N Chandrasekaran whom Tata Group sacrificed because of selfish motives of Noel Tata.... is poised to play a big role in New Delhi.

So it's not going to be any loss to Chandrasekaran but only & only to Tata Group.

Tata Group must say "Thank You" for this to Ratan Tata who set the trend of losing good people & now to Noel Tata who is continuing the "Tradition".

🚨Putin Opens His Heart For India: Offers 105 Aircraft, the Brand New PD-8 Engine and a Potential SJ-100 Manufacturing Revolution in India

Russia has placed an unusually ambitious aviation package before India, combining 105 IL-114-300 regional aircraft, the PD-8 turbofan engine and a potential SJ-100 manufacturing partnership.

The 105-aircraft proposal includes letters of intent from Indian regional airlines, with the IL-114-300 designed for smaller airports, shorter routes and regional connectivity. But the larger opportunity lies beyond the aircraft themselves.

Russia has showcased its PD-8 engine in India, a key component of the SJ-100 programme. More importantly, discussions with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited point toward a gradual shift from importing SJ-100 aircraft to assembly, component manufacturing and increasing localisation in India.

That distinction matters. India has one of the world's fastest-growing aviation markets, yet remains heavily dependent on foreign manufacturers for commercial aircraft and engines. A manufacturing partnership could help build the missing ecosystem around propulsion, avionics, composites, electronics and precision engineering.

For Russia, India offers a huge aviation market and an established industrial base at a time when Western restrictions have complicated access to technology and markets. For India, the opportunity is to gain manufacturing experience, develop domestic suppliers, strengthen HAL's civil-aviation capabilities and reduce long-term dependence on imported aircraft.

The 105-aircraft offer may therefore be only the beginning. If the SJ-100 programme progresses from import to assembly and eventually substantial localisation, Russia could help India move from being one of the world's biggest aircraft buyers to becoming a commercial aircraft manufacturing power.

The real prize is not merely the aircraft Russia is offering India. It is the industrial capability that could be built behind them.
